[Cusom27] Callback Friday OSCE Clarifications

Hello Class of 2027,

I have received questions regarding the Callback Friday OSCE policy, particularly related to retesting when minimum requirements are not met. I hope the following clarifications help ensure everyone is on the same page.

* Purpose of Callback Friday OSCEs: These assessments evaluate readiness for the 4th-year PE-QE/C3DO examination, the national standard for clinical readiness and a requirement for graduation and eligibility for COMLEX Level 3. All students must complete the 3rd-year Callback Friday OSCEs and earn at least 70% in both biomedical and humanistic domains. A retest notification is not punitive; it provides objective evidence that students meet required competencies before advancing to the fourth year and taking the PE-QE/C3DO.
* Retesting Process: Retests must be scheduled at times that do not conflict with COMAT exams. Although this may be challenging, students engaged in COMAT-related activities cannot adequately focus on an OSCE. When notified, Mrs. Allie Schofield will help you schedule a return date-typically the next Callback Friday without a COMAT due to logistical demands.
* OMM-Focused OSCE Expectations: One OSCE involves an OMM-related complaint. Students are expected to perform an appropriate structural exam and provide OMT based on their findings. Because OMT is a major portion of the evaluation, failure to perform it according to the OSCE Tip Sheet significantly affects the overall grade. Please keep this in mind when planning your 14-minute encounter.
* Notification Timeline: The syllabus initially stated retest notifications would be sent within 2 weeks. Due to various factors, this is not always feasible. The turnaround time has been updated to a maximum of 4 weeks to ensure fairness and accuracy in grading.

Updated information is included in the attached OSCE Tip Sheet and syllabus insert. Please review these materials as you prepare for future OSCEs.
