Good afternoon, students!

We hope you are enjoying your "Summer" and are getting some rest and relaxation in!

Since many of you are traveling quite a bit this summer, and because it might have been a WHILE since you read and signed off on our CUSOM Academic Bulletin, we thought we would take this moment to remind you that ANY offenses (including, but not limited to, traffic violations, etc.) MUST be reported to the Office of Student Affairs within 30 days of the incident. Please see the excerpt from the Academic Bulletin below.

If you receive a citation or charge of ANY kind, please do the following:

  1. Notify/email the Office of Student Affairs WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE INCIDENT. DO NOT WAIT until you have your court date. We need to be aware of the issue on the front end so we can assist you through the process. Please include the details of the incident in your email and attach any relevant documentation.
  2. We highly recommend that you seek legal representation as this may help lessen or drop the charge completely (even though it may still show up on your background check).
  3. Follow up with Student Affairs throughout the process (if your court date is pushed back or once the outcome is determined).
  4. We will inform you if any other steps are necessary.
  5. Work with Clinical Affairs if your rotation site has any questions or needs clarification.
  6. Contact our GME Department to discuss potential implications on residency applications (if the issue comes up in conversation or shows up on a future background check).

Section 3.16.2 of the CUSOM DO Academic Bulletin states:
"Should any Offenses occur after matriculation, (1) the student must report the Offenses to the Office of Student Affairs within thirty (30) days of the incident."

Thank you for adhering to this code of conduct and above all, please be safe in your travels.

Happy Summer!

Blessings,

Debi
