[PT2021] Statement from the ACAPT Board of Directors

Students,

We are a member institution of American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT). The purpose of ACAPT is to advance the education of PTs by promoting the highest standards of excellence.

ACAPT released the statement below on Friday. I want to share this statement and let you all know that as a department we are here to provide you support during this time. Please reach out to me, your faculty, your advisor, your peers if you need any additional support or resources.

"The events of this past week in Washington DC were very disturbing and have brought about a range of emotions from each of us - faculty, students, and professional staff.   We can all agree that what we saw this week is not the way to behave in a democracy.  Now we must heal as a nation and begin working productively to resolve our differences. Our holistic role in educating physical therapists who are committed to improving the human experience should include attention to and preparation in social responsibility. These events have impacted us all and we encourage you to provide support for your students, faculty, and professional staff during this time.
