Happy Friday DPT1 and DPT2 students,

Hopefully you have had some time to rest and recover from your summer coursework in preparation for the fall semester. The faculty have been working hard to adjust our courses to meet your needs during this challenging period. As you know we have transitioned some courses to hybrid or remote learning to minimize the amount of time we have large groups assembled. This modification has allowed for the program to return to regular in person sessions for classes that require the hands on component. We recommend that you review the COVID-19 guidance provided by the University at the "Campbell Ready" link here (https://www.campbell.edu/coronavirus/campbell-ready/ ).

Campbell has instituted several mitigation strategies to help prevent, contain, mitigate, and track a potential COVID-19 infection on campus, details are provided in the above link. The DPT program has incorporated the Campbell University guidance with information from the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (group comprised of all accredited PT program in the country) to create a new policy for use this fall in all laboratory sessions. The attached policy details the additional steps and precautions that we will be following to help ensure safe return to in person instruction. Please make yourself familiar with this policy prior to your first day on campus for lab. I have highlighted a couple of key points below for your information.

  * Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and known contacts with COVID-19, call Campus Health for instructions as needed.
  * Please do not come to an in person session if you are ill or suspect an illness, we have methods designed to provide alternate learning as needed.
  * Mask use is mandatory across campus. Students are responsible for bringing their CPHS provided mask or a suitable alternative.
  * You will have your temperature taken via a forehead thermometer upon entering labs. Students with fever will not be able to attend the session.
  * We will be providing face shields for your use in addition to your mask during all in person lab sessions. Face shields will be distributed in your first lab session of the semester. You will be responsible for the cleaning and safe keeping of these for the semester.

We are excited to return to classes next week and continue to aide you in your journey towards becoming a PT.

Dr. Myers - on behalf of the DPT faculty and staff
