[PT2021] Gardening opportunity with older adults

Hi all,
Last year the Geriatric SIG participated in an intergenerational gardening project whose goal was to partner older adults with students over gardening activities.   Our SIG role was to build and provide adapted garden beds for improved access by older adults.  One garden bed is on Kivett Road and the other one is at Green Leaf Assisted Living Facility.  The note below is from the Activities Director, Allison, who says there is a need for us to assist with the gardening activities.  Let me know if this project is of interest to you and we can arrange to help on an as needed basis or a consistent basis.

Absolutely, our residents love to garden! We do have a gardening club which we started a few weeks ago, but have stuck to only planting flowers due to my lack of experience in gardening. We have had a few residents voice interest in gardening, and I would love to get a program up and running if I can get assistance from someone who is a little more knowledgeable about gardening!
