Dear Class:

Community-based pharmacy residency programs (CPRPs) have been long-standing training programs for pharmacists in the profession and produce highly trained and proficient pharmacists. CPRPs are viewed in various ways, depending on the population asked. While there is a wide variety of evidence indicating the benefit of community-based pharmacy residency programs, application numbers and match rates for these programs still continue to decrease and misconceptions still exist from pharmacy faculty, pharmacy students, and other practicing pharmacists. The goal of this study is to assess how CPRPs are portrayed by schools of pharmacy, as well as evaluate student pharmacist perception of these programs, to ultimately identify gaps in knowledge of CPRPs and develop strategies to increase awareness throughout schools of pharmacy and for potential CPRP candidates.

You are invited to participate in this research study by completing a brief survey. The purpose of this research study is to assess the portrayal of community-based pharmacy residency programs at US schools of pharmacy and how the portrayal impacts student pharmacist views of these programs. You are being asked to take part in a research study because you are a student at a school or college of pharmacy and over the age of 18. The title of the study is “Portrayal of community-based pharmacy residency programs in schools of pharmacy and impact on student perceptions.” (UNC IRB #24-2443)

This anonymous survey contains about 30 questions and should take about 15 minutes to complete. You will not be asked to provide your name or any other personally identifiable information. By participating in the survey, you will be providing informed consent. Your participation or non-participation will not affect your grades or student status.
