Hello Classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025,

The Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) is continuing the award
program, Pharmacy Service Leaders, for students who complete an
outstanding number of service hours during the semester. Students who
*complete
either 25, 50, or 100 service hours* for the academic school year will
be *awarded
a lapel pin* to wear on their white coats. The student that records *the
most service hours in their class*, will be *awarded the platinum pin* to
distinguish themselves amongst their peers. This award is an honor that
can be listed on your CV.

Please use the service hour sheet attached below to record
your service hours for the year. We will be accepting hours from *August
9, 2021 through April 1, 2022*. Please have your hours turned in by April
1, 2022. Students who obtain the specified number of hours will receive
their pins by the end of April 2022. If you have questions about what
counts as a service hour opportunity, email me to ask!

Things that count towards this program:

   - Health clinics
   - Nursing homes
   - Health fairs
   - Hospitals
   - Food pantry (Meals on Wheels, soup kitchens)
   - Homeless shelters
   - Special Olympics
   - Religious ministry
   - Road-side clean up
   - Bag assembly/Packing events

   - Service to CU (freshmen orientation move-in day, OSCE competency
   reviews, pre-pharmacy teaching activity, etc.)
   - Holiday services (organizing or delivering toys, delivering baskets
for families, Trunk-or-Treat, Operation Christmas Child, etc.)
   - 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons and marathons (raising money or paying a
registration fee only will count as one hour)

You *may not receive payment* for the hours you obtain. If you are paid,
then the hours do not count towards this program. This is an honor system,
as leaders in pharmacy your honesty, integrity, and character are always on
display. Phi Lambda Sigma is excited to initiate this program to highlight
the service that is always being done.
