Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to check in with you all as you get ready to head to the white coat ceremony. I will be back in the UK next week for the funeral of my close friend and brother-in-law. Everything is about perspective, so take joy in the day today.

I sense that the level of stress is rising as we approach the first exams. Remember some of the advice that I and the rest of the faculty have been sharing with you:

  * You are not an imposter in this program. You all beat out many other candidates and we choose very carefully.
  * Concentrate on the effort you put into the exams, rather than worrying about the outcome.
  * No matter what the outcome of your exams, we have faith in you making it through the program.
  * Even if you are 55th in the class, that is 55th out of approximately 1,200 applicants.
  * Work hard and manage your time across the course material.
  * Remember to pay attention to your wellness. Look at your index card from the first day of classes and stick to the plan.

You have got this! Now, go enjoy the blessing of being with your loved ones and the accomplishment of getting to this place in your life. You are exactly where you need to be.

Best, Ian
