Friends,
In looking further at bar performance, you will recall that I told you that 156 of our 165 first time takers passed, as did 10 of 11 of our repeat takers. In total, 166 of our 176 takers were successful.
Dean Hinds-Glick has talked with our unsuccessful candidates, and remarkably, of our first time takers who failed, nine of ten were within three points of passing. That is significant, as the North Carolina cut score of 270 is one of the highest in the country. A score within three points of that would allow you to be licensed in a majority of the 40 UBE states, including South Carolina, New York and DC. The single repeater who failed was not quite that high, but still above the cut score in a number of states. The conclusion in which I take pride is that of 176 takers, we only had a single student whose score was so low that he or she could not be licensed in any jurisdiction based on this exam. An additional point of pride is that most of our successful takers have reported their scores to Dean Hinds-Glick, and the lowest reported score thus far is 287.
And there is another data point of interest. We sent 176 takers into the exam. The next closest school was North Carolina Central with 121, followed by Carolina at 114 and Wake Forest at 86. By a huge margin, we are sending the most lawyers into the North Carolina Bar.
Dean Leonard
