Raven Byrne '06 named director of student life & pro bono opportunities at Campbell Law School

RALEIGH – Raven Byrne, a 2006 Campbell Law School graduate, will join the law school as director of student life & pro bono opportunities effective Sept. 7, Dean J. Rich Leonard announced today.

Byrne returns to Campbell Law after most recently working as an associate attorney with Breeden Law Office, where she counseled clients on a variety of family law matters.

“Raven had an extraordinary career as a student here as well as a litigator for the past 15 years,” Leonard said. “I believe she has a bright future in law school administration.”

As director of student life<https://law.campbell.edu/advocate/student-life/> & pro bono<https://law.campbell.edu/advocate/pro-bono-service/> opportunities Byrne will administratively oversee more than 20 institutional student groups<https://law.campbell.edu/advocate/student-organizations/>, as well as Campbell Law’s robust and ever growing pro bono portfolio.

“I’m excited to return home to Campbell Law School,” Byrne said. “As a student, I was highly involved in both the law school community and community service. As an attorney, I’ve developed an even greater appreciation for pro bono services and community involvement. This position allows me to take my expertise and interests, and help our students find a balance between academics and service.”

Active in professional and civic communities, Byrne has served on the board of directors of Gigi’s Playhouse in Raleigh and Hands of Compassion International in Ecuador and Cary. She has served as a pro bono attorney for Project Together in Wake County and as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem and child advocate in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and the Johnston County Bar Association.

As a student at Campbell Law, Byrne was the recipient of the Student Bar Association Service Award at graduation, active in the advocacy program’s moot court and client counseling competitions and served as vice president of the Christian Legal Society and ABA student representative all three years. She also served as Graduation Chair in 2006 and Law Day Chair in 2005.

Byrne, who lives in Fuquay-Varina, earned a bachelor of arts in rhetorical communications with a minor in Spanish from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2002.
