[Law25] Summer 2024 Externship Opportunities

This is the second part to the previous email you received from me in January regarding Summer 2024 externships. For your convenience, I have attached a list of (non-judicial) externship postings that are currently accepting applications on Symplicity. If you see an opportunity that interests you, I encourage you to apply to as soon as possible, as some postings may consider applicants on a rolling basis. I am also including a couple of fellowships that are funded and externship-eligible.

Judge Robert Farmer Fellowship

This fellowship funds students with demonstrated financial need to work in a summer placement within Wake County - specifically, the Superior Court Judges' chambers, the Wake County District Attorney's Office, or the Wake County Public Defender's Office. Applicants are not required to have had the placement secured prior to applying, as the acceptance of your application will secure the position. However, if you have already secured a placement with one of these three host sites, please note that in your statement of interest.  Apply via Symplicity at ID #18306.  Application must be received by February 21, 2024.

Justice Stevens Public Interest Summer Fellowship

This Fellowship provides financial and training support to law students working in otherwise unpaid summer public interest law internships. (Note: judicial placements are not eligible). This is a funding opportunity, not an application for a position in the first instance. Apply via Symplicity at ID #20609. The application deadline is April 1, 2024.

CPILSA Public Interest Law Summer Grant

These grants assist law students interested in the practice of public interest law by providing financial support to students who secure certain qualifying unpaid summer employment. This is a funding opportunity, not an application for a position in the first instance.  Apply via Symplicity at ID #18695.  The application deadline is April 17, 2024.
