Please notice the email message below from Sara Leak about two collaborations with Campbell University, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Trust and Wealth Management (MTWM). While the career center does not oversee any portions of these programs, graduates with dual degrees have been able to use them to increase their marketability and enhance services to clients (regardless of the path you take on this legal journey). Through a cooperative arrangement between the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and the Lundy-Fetterman School or Business, students may pursue the Juris Doctor (JD) along with one of two graduate degrees from the Business School: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Trust and Wealth Management (MTWM).

Students interested in either of these dual degree programs complete both degrees simultaneously; no extra time is added to your JD graduation date. Students in the MBA program can complete the program over the 2L and 3L year, whereas MTWM students complete the program over the 2L year.

The dual degree programs allow JD students to transfer credit hours between programs, saving students both time and money (compared to if the two degrees were pursued separately).

  *   JD/MBA: The JD will accept 6 credit hours from the MBA program and the MBA will transfer 9 credit hours from the JD to serve as MBA electives.
  *   JD/MTWM: The JD will accept 6 credit hours of the MTWM program and 6 credit hours of the JD program will transfer into the MTWM program. Please note that due to curriculum changes to the JD program, not all students take the income tax course in the JD program that transfers into the MTWM curriculum. If this is the case, the student will take the MTWM course.

As a JD student, the application process for both programs is simple. Students complete the online application which includes a current resume and essay; transcripts, letters of recommendations, and test scores are used from the student’s JD application. We offer rolling admissions for both programs. The MBA program has six start dates (August, October, January, March, April, June). The MTWM program is cohort based and begins classes in August each year. We are still accepting applications for Fall (classes begin August 22, 2022). The preferred applications deadline is July 25, 2022; the regular deadline is August 15, 2022.

Below you will find the admission criteria and application process for both programs.

Admission Criteria

Admission qualifications include:

  1.  A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  2.  A minimum grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 point scale on all undergraduate work.
  3.  A minimal score of 450 on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), a minimal score of 298 on the GRE General Test, or a minimal 150 score on the LSAT
  4.  Demonstration of undergraduate-level competencies in the following subject areas:
     *   MBA
        *   Accounting
        *   Economics
        *   Statistics
     *   MTWM
        *   Accounting
        *   Business Law
        *   Corporate Finance
        *   Economics
     *   Prerequisites do NOT need to be completed in order to gain admission to the either program or to begin classes.

Application Process

Your application will be reviewed by the Graduate Admissions Committee. Applicants will be notified of an admission decision typically within ten (10) business days. A completed application includes:

  *   Completed online application https://business.campbell.edu/graduate-programs/master-of-business-administration/application-process/ (select the MBA with Dual Degree (PharmD, JD, MDiv, MSCR, MSPH))
  *   Current Resume
  *   Essay (one to two pages in length):
     *   MBA: Describe how personal experiences have shaped your academic and career goals and highlight how our graduate program will advance them. What experience best illustrates your ability to meet the rigors of our graduate program?
     *   MTWM: What lies ahead for you in your career?  What are the gaps or deficiencies currently preventing you from pursuing these potential career paths?  How do you plan to use your time in the Campbell MTWM program to fill these gaps and advance your career?
  *   JD application
     *   Includes letters of recommendation
     *   LSAT scores
     *   Official copies of all college and university transcripts

For Dual Degree applications, we request that applicants have the law school forward a copy of your JD application (entrance exam scores, official transcripts, and letters of recommendation) to the business school. This will save you from requesting the information again.
