Good morning, Class of 2029!

I am sure you are all getting exciting about starting medical school in just a couple of months! Be sure to keep an eye out for emails (such as this one 😉) with important information in the upcoming months.

I am attaching a clinical skills equipment letter from our Course Directors of Clinical Education, Dr. Weber and Dr. Powers, regarding recommended and required Clinical Skills equipment that you will need during your time at CUSOM. PLEASE NOTE, NO ITEMS NEED TO BE PURCHASED RIGHT NOW, with the exception of a short, white consultation length lab coat, which will be used starting the first week of class. As for the other required equipment, our SOMA (Student Osteopathic Medical Association) will be organizing a group discount for Clinical Skills equipment through Steele’s Medical Supply, but once again, nothing needs to be purchased right now. Please see the below welcome note from our SOMA student President, Tori Kowalkowski. Orders will be due around September 1st, so you have plenty of time to figure out what you need to order. My name is Tori Kowalkowski, and I am the president of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association here at CUSOM. On behalf of SOMA, we are thrilled to have you join our community and look forward to meeting you on campus soon.
Dr. Weber and Dr. Powers just sent you some details about the equipment you will need for Clinical Skills for the year. To make your preparations for medical school easier, SOMA partners with Steele Supply Company to help with the purchase of these items. You can order the supplies you would like using the instructions and link provided in the document attached, and SOMA will deliver them to you before Block 2. **PLEASE NOTE: NO EQUIPMENT NEEDS TO BE PURCHASED RIGHT NOW**. You will have plenty of time to decide which equipment to order in August, as the ordering deadline is not until September 1.
