Greetings, Class of 2028,

HAPPY HUMP DAY!!!

Progress builds on progress. Celebrate the small wins—over time, these become HUGE gains.

  * To quote James Clear from Atomic Habits, “If you can get 1% better each day for one year, you’ll end up 37 times better by the time you’re done.” Pretty freakin’ cool, y’all…and so much more sustainable and likely to stick than trying to dramatically change too much at one time.
  * True, lasting success/results comes from small, daily choices rather than rapid, big, one-time changes—so focus on building consistency and improving as you go (and celebrate those daily choices—way to go YOU!). And, occasionally, take a pause and see how far you’ve come 😉.

Study Tip:

  * Incorporate some active re-review of older material a little bit every day this week before the weekend comes. (e.g., just 20 minutes a day of re-review adds up to one hour and 20 minutes by end of the day Friday of re-review of content from earlier weeks—cool beans!)
     * When I re-review older material, what should I focus on?
        * Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize. So, first priority, the stuff you don’t know (or are weakest areas) PLUS the most essential/high yield stuff. Have a list or way of tracking these for yourself, and focus on the content that checks both of those boxes first. Then, re-review the second priority stuff—things you “sort of” know PLUS the most essential/high yield stuff.
           * Then, it should be things you don’t know or sort of know that are less essential but covered…etc. to the finer details?
           * Notice: you do NOT re-review of “things you know”. You don’t have time—feels good to go over things you know, but it’s a waste of time.

DROP-IN Student Study Hours hosted by Peer Learning Partners will be held, Thursday, September 4 in the ACE Center (Levine Hall Room 106—near Java Café) as follows:

  * THURS 09/04: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Host Peer Learning Partner: Katie Satterthwaite
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Host Peer Learning Partner: Roxton Edwards

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Also, you may notice that your TrueLearn Accounts have updated recently to reflect the upcoming changes to COMLEX Level 1 which is moving from 352 questions within 8 hours of testing to 320 questions within 8 hours of testing—which means that you have fewer questions and more time per question now—90 seconds per question. Therefore, TrueLearn will now allot 90 seconds per question when you create your own timed quizzes. Also, there are some other features that have been updated like Flashcards and greater integration of Picmonics within TrueLearn’s COMBANK. In October 14, we will have a virtual session with our TrueLearn representative to go over more of these updates in detail with you and how to best utilize these features—so stay tuned!

In case you missed it, the recording for Integrating Board Prep While Conquering the Blocks with MS-3 Peer Learning Partners is available through the CUSOM ACE Blackboard Organization. This is mostly focused on Blocks 5-6.

As always, you are welcome to request private, 1-on-1 sessions for additional peer academic support for specific subjects or skills, by placing your request confidentially at CUSOM ACE Peer Academic Support Request Form<https://cuweb.wufoo.com/forms/z1wrzo691gb0ite/> (this link is also available on CUSOM ACE Blackboard), or by scanning the QR Code below:
