Greetings, Class of 2028,

REMINDER: Preview to CABS II & Tips for Boards via ZOOM this FRIDAY @ 2:00 p.m.!!! (attendance is mandatory)
https://campbell-edu.zoom.us/j/96349217420?pwd=ICF9FTPQJAh9NcYDu2Vp71V1RLFGCB.1

Your brain is NOT a machine—it works BEST with REST! Intense weeks are not the time to double down on exhaustion (as you know all too well as second year students)—it will just lead to burnout, reduced productivity, and less effective studying among other things.

So, instead of “powering through”: take frequent, intentional, restful breaks as a way of sustaining your mind, body, and spirit throughout the day. Think of rest as supporting your brain to work more effectively and with greater focus. And, it may even give you an energy & mood boost 😉

  * Tip: Set a timer. Be FULLY present in that one activity for 5-15 minutes (NO texting, NO scrolling social media, NO answering emails, etc.)

For a list of ideas for short breaks, see further below the drop-in study hours.

Upcoming General DROP-IN Student Study Hours hosted by Peer Learning Partners will be held in the ACE Center (Levine Hall Room 106—near Java Café) as follows:

  * WED 11/12: 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Host Peer Learning Partner: Ally Manifold (Note this is on Wednesday at 2:30—TODAY)
  * THURS 11/13: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Host Peer Learning Partner: Peyton Phillips (TOMORROW)

Upcoming ANATOMY LAB DROP-IN Sessions will be hosted by Peer Learning Partners will be held in the Anatomy Lab as follows: Coming November 19!

Ideas for Short, Restful Breaks

(Choose a calming/centering break when you feel overwhelmed or anxious. Choose an energizing break when you feel tired or have just worked hard at a task.)

  * Sit and sip a cup of coffee or tea—yep, that’s it. Enjoy a moment of peace & do nothing else—it will do wonders.

  *   Short walk
  *   Stretch
  * Do a meditation (find an app, audiobook, or actual book for short meditations)
  *   Color or draw
  * Pet/brush/play with your beloved dog or cat
  * Read poems or inspirational books.
  * Dance/move to an upbeat song that motivates you (e.g., one of my faves is Seven Nation Army…and while the classic is classic…gotta love some of those remixes too—create YOUR “go to” playlist of energizing, motivating songs)
  * Sing or play an instrument
  * Throw a ball or frisbee with a friend
  * Look at fun photos or videos of your family, friends or pets (create an album in your phone for the “good stuff” that will bring you some joy)
  * Lay down and listen to a calming song
  * What else would be a good break for YOU?

Also, if you missed any of our earlier sessions, check them out on the CUSOM ACE Blackboard Organization under “Resources for DO Students”. Last week we had a session with the MS-2 Peer Learning

As always, you are welcome to request private, 1-on-1 sessions for additional peer academic support for specific subjects or skills, by placing your request confidentially at CUSOM ACE Peer Academic Support Request Form<https://cuweb.wufoo.com/forms/z1wrzo691gb0ite/> (this link is also available on CUSOM ACE Blackboard), or by scanning the QR Code below:
