[Cusom28] Financial Literacy Session Thursday - MANDATORY!

Good morning, MS-2 students!

We hope you are enjoying your first week of class!

On your Block 5 schedule this week, you will notice a session in your lecture hall on Thursday at 2:30pm entitled, "Financial Aid Presentation - MANDATORY". This session will be led by Mr. Brandon Barfield, who is the President of our Financial Literacy Partner company, "Student Loan Professor" (formerly called "Doctors without Quarters"). They specialize in assisting future physicians and health care professionals (students and graduates) with managing their student debt and navigating the ever-changing and complex world of student loan repayment and forgiveness. You may remember Mr. Barfield's MS-1 presentation last year at Orientation.

As part of our COCA accreditation requirements, we host ONE SESSION EVERY YEAR for our students, throughout their four years at CUSOM, in addition to a Graduation exit counseling presentation. Each session is UNIQUE and pertains to the financial practices and principles that are most appropriate for that particular season in your medical training.

You will hear from Student Loan Professor during the following times throughout your years at CUSOM:


  1.  Year 1: during Block 1 (live session)
  2.  Year 2: during Block 5 (live session)
  3.  Year 3: virtual session while you are out on rotations
  4.  Year 4: virtual session while you are out on rotations
  5.  During "Exit Day" of Graduation week - (live session). This session is REQUIRED for all students who use federal funding and helps graduates address medical school debt and repayment options.

As a preview, we have attached the learning objectives for this MS-2 financial literacy session so you can prepare any questions you may have. We will have a QR code available so all students can sign in to verify attendance.
