OMS-I and OMS-II national ACOS members, please see the attached research opportunity! This is for students interested in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, or neurosurgery!

We’re excited to invite applications for the Osteopathic Research Initiative for Growth and Innovation in Surgery (ORIGINS) - a national research program designed to connect osteopathic medical students with research opportunities in surgical fields.

ORIGINS provides structured support to help students develop and complete research projects under the guidance of experienced principal investigators (PIs). The program also offers mentorship, educational resources, and opportunities to collaborate with peers across the country who share a passion for academic surgery.

Our pilot year successfully matched 52 students with 9 PIs, and those teams are now wrapping up projects in preparation for presentations and publication.

We are now recruiting the next cohort of students who are eager to grow their research skills and contribute to surgical scholarship. The program is open to rising second and third-year osteopathic medical students.

📅 Application Deadline: May 31st
📎 Required: CV and Letter of Good Standing
🔗 Apply here: https://forms.gle/Y394167Jw Kjm kG6<https://forms.gle/Y394167JwNKjmDkG6>

Because letters and CVs are required, and the application process can take time, we recommend starting the application early. Don’t miss this opportunity to build your research foundation in surgery.

Please reach out to Brenton Stucki (brentonstucki at my.unthsc.edu<mailto:brentonstucki at my.unthsc.edu>) if you have any questions.
