The below email is sent on behalf of SOMA.

Hello M1s and M2s,
I hope this message finds you well! My name is Tori Kowalkowski, and I am honored to be your newly elected SOMA President. I'm excited to invite you to the 2025 SOMA Spring Convention, taking place from March 28-30, 2025, at the Westin Arlington in Virginia. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside SOMA leaders and peers.
What's in store:
· Educational sessions on OMT, suturing, residency preparation, and more!
· The chance to secure a seat at the House of Delegates in the summer and represent your chapter alongside SOMA leaders.
· SOMA will cover your registration fees for all participants and offer a $150 stipend for only the first 5 students who express interest in attending & show proof of registration.
· Full reimbursement for registration and hotel fees will be provided for those on leadership.
Additionally, don't miss DO Day 2025, the largest osteopathic advocacy event of the year, which will take place March 26-27, 2025. It's your chance to make a real impact on the future of our profession by meeting with lawmakers and advocating for policies that matter to DOs and osteopathic students. SOMA leadership will be attending virtually.
Two ways to participate in DO Day:
· Virtually: March 22-23, 2025
· In-Person: March 26-27, 2025, at The Westin Arlington, VA
If you're interested in attending or have any questions, please fill out the Interest Form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeAKzOw3djePCRltpFizx3Bn1ZSliWj44X-dHsxo5Qb56pBzA/viewform?usp=header> and register at the DO Day - American Osteopathic Association website<https://osteopathic.org/about/aoa-events/do-day-on-capitol-hill/>, as well as through your SOMA account<https://my.studentdo.org/s/login/?ec=302&startURL=%2Fs%2F> by selecting "SOMA 2025 Spring Convention."
The interest form helps us track registration and stipend/reimbursements. A follow-up email will notify you if you were one of the first five to receive the $150 stipend!
Please keep your registration receipts for proof of registration, and send confirmation emails to our Treasurer, Danielle, at drbarry0322 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:drbarry0322 at email.campbell.edu>.
The deadline for submitting the form is February 28th, so be sure to submit it on time.
National Meetings or CUSOM-related Activities:

  1. For attending CUSOM-related activities or national meetings of student clubs and organizations, an Excused Absence request must be submitted, in writing, to Med Ed at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the anticipated absence(s).
  2. To be considered for such a request, students must have a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, no unresolved course failures, and be in good academic and professional standing (not on Academic or Conduct Warning or Probation).
  3. Students are allowed a maximum of two (2) excused absences per semester for voluntary attendance at conferences.
  4. No travel arrangements should be made prior to approval being granted by Med Ed. CUSOM accepts no responsibility or liability for any losses as a consequence of any cancelled or delayed travel plans due to a student's failure to obtain prior approval.
If you have any questions or ideas on how SOMA can better support you, feel free to reach out to us at cusom at studentdo.com<mailto:cusom at studentdo.com> or contact anyone on the leadership team.
I hope to see many of you there!
Best,
Tori Kowalkowski
