[Cusom27] Announcement of Dr. Kuo Transition

Good afternoon CUSOM Classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027,

I hope this note finds you all well and that clinical rotations are going well for the Classes of 2024 and 2025, and that the break week has been restful for the Classes of 2026 and 2027.

I send this message with mixed emotions.  I would like to inform you that Dr. Kuo has accepted a position at another medical school and will be leaving CUSOM at the end of October to start a new chapter in her career.  I am happy for her from a professional standpoint, but sad from a personal one.  Dr. Kuo has been an integral part of the CUSOM faculty and family since 2013; I certainly have learned a lot from her, as you all have as well.  She will be missed by all the CUSOM faculty, staff, and students.

During the transition, Dr. Kuo will be on campus Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through October and will deliver her scheduled lectures in Block 2 and Block 6.  Dr. Hamrick will assume the Chair position of the Microbiology and Immunology Department.  The ACE Peer-tutoring program will continue its normal operation coordinated by Ms. Anter.  For additional academic support, I suggest you reach out to your Faculty Advisor, Student Services, or me.  Utilize the services CUSOM has in place to assist you in being successful academically as well as maintaining your physical and emotional health.

Dr. Kuo's last official day will be October 31, but she will be at CUSOM periodically in November, so you have time to stop by and wish her well.

I wish her nothing but success in her new position and I hope you will reach out to her and wish her well too.
