Dear Class of 2027,



Congratulations on completing Block 2! This is the first email of many laying out the process of elections for SGA, SOMA, Class Leadership along with General Club Elections.



Attached to this email is a list of available positions as well as the election schedule. Please pay attention to what week each position is up for election. I will send out weekly specific emails as the time approaches.



Most positions require a letter of interest within the engage application. Those applications are open at the end of finals week so if you would like to work over break you are welcome to. However, they are not due until the listed date in January.



If you have never used Engage, please look at the instructions below.

1. Go to: https://campbell.campuslabs.com/engage/ and at the top right, login using your Campbell credentials.

2. Once approved as a user, you will be able to click on "Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine" under Memberships.

3. Under “Forms,” select “Election Group X.” X matches the group on the schedule. Fill out the form and attach your letter of intent for the position you are applying for.

a) As listed in the Academic Bulletin (section 7.3.1), a student must have a cumulative GPA of ≥ 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as calculated at the end of each grading period, no course failures, and cannot be on academic or on conduct probation to serve as a club or class officer (yellow and purple on spreadsheet.). Any position in green does not require a 3.0 GPA. If you have any questions regarding your GPA, please contact our Registrar’s Office (naylor at campbell.edu<mailto:naylor at campbell.edu>). Please note, our Registrar will not be able to respond to requests until January 3rd.

No Dual Appointment (Please Plan accordingly)

  1.  If you are elected to an SGA executive position, SOMA executive position, or Class of 2027 President or Vice President position, you are not allowed to hold any other ELECTED positions at CUSOM! (with the exception of CUCCC leadership board)!
  2.  Please consider this before running for any of these positions. Each student

can only hold one club (orange on spreadsheet) executive position (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer), however that same student is eligible to hold an interest group (blue on spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/134Q9ZyRYFD98f9IWe1SiBCoqA2SMh77OWnIz-pr6GaU/edit>) position as well.



Election schedule overview:



Election Group 1: Positions: SGA, SOMA, Class President and Vice President Elections

Application on Engage due: Monday, January 1st, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Letter of intent PDF and video submission due: Thursday, January 4th, 2024 at 5:00 pm

Voting by all CUSOM Classes (Class-specific is 2027 only): January 5-7th at 8:00 PM.

Winners Announced: Monday, January 8th mid morning


Election Group 2: Positions: All other SGA and SOMA Positions, and SGA Appointed Board

*No Video for SGA or SOMA non-elected positions, only Secretary, Treasurer and SOMA National Liaison.

Application on Engage due: Monday, January 8th at 11:59 PM

Letter of intent PDF and video submission due: Thursday, January 11th at 5:00 PM.

Voting By All CUSOM Classes: January 12-14th at 8:00 PM.

Winners Announced: Monday, January 15th mid morning



For election groups 1 and 2, you will submit an initial application to engage. This will allow the registrar to confirm you are eligible for the position. After that, you will need to email me (j_willis0208 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:j_willis0208 at email.campbell.edu>) your letter of intent (<500 words, in PDF format) and video speech. This video should be around 2-3 minutes, no more than 5 minutes, explaining why you would be best for the position. ONLY SGA (All elected positions, not board), SOMA (all elected positions), Class President, and Class Vice President need to record a video. All board members still need to email me their letter of intent. Your name and the position that you are running for should be at the top of your letter. All the above information is in the document entitled “Elected Position Process.”



Election Group 3: Clubs

Application on Engage due for all positions: Monday, January 15th, 2024 at 11:59 PM

Eligible Applicants will be sent to MS2 club leaders: Tuesday, January 16th

Individual club voting will occur: January 16-18th at 8:00 PM

Winners announced: Friday, January 19th mid morning



 Election Group 4: Interest Groups

Application on Engage due for all positions: Monday, January 22nd at 11:59 PM

Application will be sent to group leaders: Tuesday, January 23rd

Individual group voting will occur: January 23rd-January 25th at 8:00PM

Winners Announced: Friday, January 26th
