[Cusom26] Taking a leap is HARD...I will miss CUSOM

Good morning,
I have drafted this email a hundred times in my head and I never get it right. SO hopefully today, I got it right this time. I am here until December which is rapidly approaching.

The image that comes to my mind when I think about leaving CUSOM is the high dive. Blame it on the summer Olympics. 😊

I think about my career prior to CUSOM, my time at CUSOM, and now looking at the future.
I am climbing the ladder to reach the platform. I am not sure what my professional “platform” is currently, but I know I am climbing towards a goal. I know that I am on the platform of my time at CUSOM. It is time to take a leap of faith.
In order to even have the honor to climb the ladder, you had to have a firm foundation and really good coaches and mentors. I have been incredibly blessed at my time at CUSOM to have both of those things. I learned. I grew. I formed relationships. I was coached and mentored to set me up for success and now ultimately my new opportunity. So in order to leave Campbell, I have to walk out on my platform of CUSOM and leap. IT IS SCARY but I am thankful.

I was dubbed “Mama Bear” by a member of the class of 2019 and the name stuck. I am a proud “Mama Bear.” I have watched 6/almost 7 classes walk across that stage and achieve their dreams of becoming a physician. I have welcomed 9 classes into our doors.
We have done a lot of life together. Some of the life was hard and some of the life was joyful but we did it.
You will continue to do it as you continue on your path – whether you are in residency or practice or you are marching through your time of medical school. I am proud.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your story (in some small way). I will forever be a “Camel” at heart.

This isn’t goodbye – it is see you later. Stay in touch. I am at CUSOM until December 31st. If you want to chat, let me know and I will make time.

I will try my best not to cry.
