Hey everyone!
As most of you already know, the Department of Education under the Trump
administrations’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act has proposed the removal of
several professional degrees, including Physical Therapy. This act, if
passed, defines PT as a degree that does not require a level of skill
beyond that normally required for a bachelors degree, nor a professional
licensure. This will greatly alter the financial resources for students
pursing the career, cutting reimbursement or financial aid nearly in half.
This will diminish the number of healthcare workers and negatively impact
our communities that we have worked so hard to heal and care for. PT is not
the only healthcare field impacted as nursing, OT, SLP, PA and more are
also on the list for removal.
Below is a link provided by the APTA to send an email to our congress
representatives to urge them to reconsider and emphasize the importance of
healthcare professionals. There is also a link from the APTA with more
information on the act and their response to it, which includes how to
email Congress. Please help protect and advocate for Physical Therapy and
its essential education and significance.
