Today is Juneteenth, the holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the
United States. This date has been long celebrated as Emancipation Day by
the African American community and became a federally recognized holiday in
June of 2023. Today we celebrate Emancipation Day. I hope through this
resource you are able to appreciate the historical legacy of this holiday
and all that it represents.
