I spoke with the person in charge of the student volunteers. She said that if students have posters to present on Saturday and they volunteer for Saturday, that is fine, the students would be given that time to go do their posters. So- two birds, one stone. Volunteer for Saturday and you are already there when your great poster is chosen.

I have attached the summer patient assignments. Because there is not a BB course set up for DPT 780, I have no where to put it, so I'm sending it here.
I think we have 20 strong teams!!! I am so excited.
Everyone of the participants has the potential to see a significant functional change.
YOU get to be the organizer of that change.

The project is an intervention case study. Your question should include an intervention and a functional outcome. (Impact of music on self-selected exercise intensity to improve gait speed, for example). Review the list of interventions from motor control paper, think about motor learning (controlled feedback, error augmentation, high-intensity, postural control, dual tasking...), do a lit review of interventions for the specific diagnosis (SCIRE is for SCI and EBRSR is for stroke), think of outcomes as they relate to impairment, activity or participation. Hopefully you can get with your partner and start thinking about an approach you may have. Remember, documentation is in the DPT 758 folder for all participants for those of you not familiar with your assigned participant.

The first session will need to be a complete examination and document as such. AND, initiation of intervention should occur. Be sure to include measures that will support your case study. Do more, not less, so that you don't wish you had measured something at the end of the 10 weeks.

The first week of class, there will be a form for you to fill out regarding your idea for the case study. Faculty will give you feedback to ensure you capture and follow a logical thought process.

Ok. Go study for the final exams. Find some time this weekend to get outside, relax and let all this knowledge you have acquired this semester seep into your soul. See you next week.

Let me know if you have any questions about the volunteering or the NW patient assignments.

(one small thing to mention: Mayowa and Anita have not confirmed they will be participating this summer. Verbally they did, but they have not responded to my text yesterday, so those are the only two that are not 100% positive!)
