Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, expected to move from Barcelona and rejoin
Lionel Messi at Inter Miami next season, scored a hat-trick against
Botafogo of Brazil Serie A on Thursday evening and could soon reunited with
him at Inter.

A 36-year-old veteran defied age to score three goals in 19 second-half
minutes.

Gremio found themselves trailing 3-1 early after goals scored by former
Chelsea striker Diego Costa and Junior Santos of their hosts, Gremio.

Di Placido's cross for a header; while thirdly and finally as he raced onto
a lofted ball from deep to claim victory for Botafogo.

Suarez’s hat-trick saw Gremio climb to the top of the Brasileirao table

Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been on fire since joining Brazilian club
Fluminense from Liverpool. The 30-year-old scored 14 goals in 28 league
appearances since joining Fluminense last August, prompting reports that
Inter Miami may offer him another opportunity. At Barcelona he worked

Gremio maintained their lead atop the Brasileirao table as they held off a
comeback attempt from Botafogo in Porto Alegre. Junior Santos and Marlon
Freitas scored for Gremio early in the second half, giving the home team an

Suarez then came through, scoring three goals in 19 second-half minutes to
help turn around the game and secure victory for Gremio. This result saw
Gremio leapfrog Palmeiras into first place despite still having one game
remaining against Palmeiras; Fluminense and Bragantino could both become
significant contenders to claim first place, creating an intense finish to
this season.

Suarez’s hat-trick was his 14th goal in 2023

Luis Suarez stole the show as Gremio defeated Botafogo 4-3 and overtook
them in Brazilian Serie A table. At 36 years old, Suarez has proved himself
