Former Arsenal winger Paul Merson believes Liverpool have lost their fear
factor and are not playing at their best level. He believes this season's
run of poor form is indicative that their much-feared rivals in Manchester
are now capable of being defeated.

In the past, teams used to be intimidated by Liverpool. They believed that
if you played well there, your chances for victory would be slim; but this
has all changed now.

The fear factor has diminished for Liverpool, which is an encouraging
development for a club known for its fear of defeat. This may indicate that
Liverpool are getting closer to winning trophies but haven't quite made it
yet.

On Sunday, Liverpool recorded one of their greatest victories over
Manchester United with a 7-0 triumph at Anfield. Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo,
Divock Origi and Darwin Nunez all scored goals in the win while Roberto
Firmino also chipped in with one.

Liverpool have already won the FA Cup and Europa League this season,
propelling them into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. But they
face a formidable task against Real Madrid in the second leg - they haven't
defeated Madrid since 2009, so Klopp knows his team must break free of
their recent cycle if they hope to advance further in this tie.

He believes the Reds need a striker to replace Sadio Mane, who has been out
injured for much of this season. Aubameyang is his man for that job and
hopes Jurgen Klopp makes the switch during the summer transfer window.

Aubameyang can be an asset to any squad, but he must be capable of scoring
25 goals per season - something Aubameyang certainly can. Although not
naturally gifted with that talent, his abilities as a striker make him
ideal for this role.

Furthermore, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will have someone to rely on when
the going gets tough. His ball-winning skills and speed add an extra
dimension to the game's intensity.

His speed allows him to get up and down the field quickly, which is
essential for a side that relies on fast-paced football. Furthermore, he
provides protection for Roberto Firmino in midfield so he can focus more on
defending.

Gakpo looks different than the player who scored against Everton and that's
exactly what Klopp wants from him. He's an impressive attacking threat who
will be key in Liverpool's success this season.

Hopefully he can reach that level, but he must work to improve. At 19, he
still has plenty of time to develop into the player of his dreams.

Liverpool have an excellent opportunity to start winning their first trophy
of the season, but they must do it with flair. A draw against Real Madrid
would do them no favors, so they must regroup over the next few days and
return to being at their best for this match.
