Hello All,

There have been a variety of discussions about the department COVID policies. I am sure all of you have seen this lab policy document, yet reading through it again today it helped me to remember the guidelines that were put in place at the start of the semester. Please review again. We are still following these policies. We still expect students to wear face shields while in lab unless the instructor has specific guidance for a particular reason. I know that more shields have been ordered and some work better than others. We still have the same cleaning procedures and there may be times where rooms have to be cleaned then the two groups have to switch rooms to allow for each group of students to have use of equipment that is not easily transported from room to room. Often times, it is easier for the faculty member to clean-up and move spaces. The lead faculty member will direct this based on their lab. There is one part that I recently adjusted for based on information from student affairs and feedback from students. We still do not want many students in the building. Similar to other programs, there may be times during the week that a student can find a quiet, private space to study or practice with your lab partner utilizing the same protocols in the polices. We are trying this to allow a little more flexibility for studying but you must clean up after yourselves and please do not move tables or equipment out of our lab spaces. Please do not congregate after/before classes. Please keep to the groupings without crossover. Please utilize this change carefully so that all our hard work of staying safe and healthy remains the rest of this semester. Lets work as a team and if we see any of us not following the policy speak up professionally. "Dr. Weaver, should you have a face shield on in the lab space?" Yes, I will have one on too if I am in the lab space because we are not able to physically distance in these spaces so it is one more layer of protection.

Enjoy your weekend and lets keep going strong this semester!
Dr. Weaver
