Subject: IPE First Year Event - Final Reminder and Instructions for Students
Importance: High

Hi Everyone,

This is our final reminder to students about the First Year Event on Monday. Please send it out to your students today, and let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you all!

Marisa

Dear Students,

Below is your final reminder and instructions for the IPE First Year Event on Monday. Please review the information below and email us at ipe at campbell.edu<mailto:ipe at campbell.edu> if you have any questions.

• Group Assignments: You should have already received your group + time assignment for the event. These were sent to all registered students on Tuesday. If you did not receive your assignment, email us immediately at ipe at campbell.edu<mailto:ipe at campbell.edu>.

• Small Group Rooms: All small group rooms in Smith Hall have been reserved for Escape Room setup this weekend. Because of weather concerns yesterday, we had to cancel our plans for setup today. Rooms are released for student use today, but will remain reserved for setup tomorrow through Monday.

• Prepare for the event: Other than reviewing your assigned group location and scheduled time, there is nothing else to do to prepare. However, we encourage you to check out the attached FYE Overview slides to get a good idea about how the event will go.

• Parking: We encourage all those who are able to carpool to do so (including Smith Hall students), in order to mitigate parking numbers and allow for students travelling from the Main Campus to find parking spaces. Remember: parking is available on both the Smith Hall and Levine Hall sides of the Health Sciences Campus. If you are travelling from Main Campus, give yourself enough time to get there and find a spot, and get to Smith Hall and your assigned group location. If you park on the far side of Levine Hall, you will naturally take more time to get to Smith Hall.

• Dress Code: Recommended attire for the event is business casual. Please dress professionally but comfortably enough to explore your escape room. To clarify: please do not wear skirts or low-cut tops. Ties are optional.

• Food: We encourage you to eat a balanced lunch before attending the event; however, assorted snacks (e.g., trail mix, crackers, fruit snacks, etc.) and water will be provided in each room.

• Check In: Don’t forget! Check-In for attendance purposes will take place within each individual room. Please do not try to look for a sign-in, check-in, or registration table in the lobby of Smith Hall. You will head straight to your assigned room, and check in there. Check-in involves scanning a QR code and filling out a brief online form. If your phone does not or cannot scan a QR code, you may either use a teammate’s phone to check yourself in, or bring a device with which to enter a URL to access the check-in page. A sample Check-In page has been attached so you can practice checking in before the event.

o Please remember: Checking in to the event records your attendance. If you do not check in correctly, we will not have record of your attendance.

• Absences and Tardiness: This IPE event is required. If you do not attend the event, your program will be notified and you will be required to make it up. At the same time, we understand that life happens. If you have a true emergency on Monday, please send us an email (to ipe at campbell.edu<mailto:ipe at campbell.edu>), copy your program’s director, and your assigned facilitators for the event to notify us that you will not be there. We will be in contact with you to set up your make-up activity.

o Tardiness: To function effectively, the event must run efficiently and smoothly as scheduled. Once each escape room scenario starts, no one can enter that room. To that end, students who arrive past the start time of their group assignments will not be able to participate. Please plan on arriving 10 minutes before your assigned time to ensure that you are not too late. Arriving late will require students to complete a make-up assignment.

• Social Media: Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook (@CampbellIPE) and Twitter (@CUIPE). We are posting hints for event attendees between now and Monday!

We hope this information helps you as you prepare to attend the IPE First Year/Escape Room Event! We look forward to seeing you all there on Monday.
