<div dir="ltr"><div><p style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">Hi all! See below for the town hall summary!</span></p><p style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><br></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">On April 15, 2025 at 1:00pm, the P1 class held a town hall. 27 students and 4 faculty/staff members were in attendance. Cody Brown, Chaplain, led the group in a prayer. Next, Kyle Crevling, President, and Trent Almond, Vice President, brought up the following issues from the concern form and classmates voiced concerns as well. The notes from each point of discussion are below. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Overall feeling of lack of preparedness for recent OSCE:</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"> Dr. Moore acknowledged OSCEs are high-stress and said he would have Dr.Asbill address them further. There was uncertainty about whether the short notice (of about 24 hours) was intentional or an oversight.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Integration and Averaged Grading of PPC as with Med Lit:</u> </span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">Dr. Asbill supports combining Med Lit and PPC grades and potentially combining the classes in the future. Dr. Asbill plans to bring the idea to the curriculum committee again to benefit future classes. He anticipates PPC1 and PPC2 becoming a combined course with a lab component. He will also try to work to get grade integration for PPC III & PPC IV this year.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Not receiving PowerPoints in Advance:</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"> Dr.Asbill acknowledged that reviewing the powerpoints ahead of time is an effective way to study but needs specific details about which classes aren’t providing slides and who to contact. Kyle will work on compiling a list to send to Dr.Asbill</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Temperature issues in classrooms:</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"> Acknowledged by Dr. Asbill as a legitimate concern that they are working on.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Testing accommodations:</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">There were issues reported with students not being able to make it to the exam review following their test in the accommodation setting. Dr. Asbill noted that this would be a quick fix by ensuring the testing accommodation center receives exams properly. Additionally some students couldn’t register for electives due to accommodation complications. Asbill emphasized that there was flexibility in elective registration and that students will ultimately get what they need. He noted that in real-world scenarios, extra time for counseling a patient isn’t realistic, but that they would try to work with students who need accommodations. Dr.Moore advised students to speak with Ms.Laura Rich for OSCE-specific accommodations.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Group reassignment concerns</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>:</u> Some students have expressed wanting groups changed and some do not. Kyle suggested a poll to gauge interest in group changes. Dr. Asbill said groups are typically randomized each semester but emphasized the importance of learning to work with diverse team members. Students are encouraged to talk with their groups first before escalating to professors. A poll will be sent out to the class to gauge interests in keeping or changing groups. Be on the lookout for this soon.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:700;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><u>Block Exam Content Concerns:</u></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"> A classmate brought up concerns about the balance of exam questions between PPC and Endocrine. It was pointed out that PPC, a 3-credit course, had significantly more questions that felt more in-depth, while Endocrine seemed to be tested at a much more surface level. One example shared was a lecture with 70 slides in Endocrine that only had 4 exam questions, compared to a PPC lecture that had around 20. Classmates agreed that this made it hard for students to know what to focus on and how deeply to study. There was a shared feeling that the number and type of questions didn’t always match the amount of content covered. Students also noticed some issues with the exam breakdown for Endocrine, like professors being listed even though they didn’t teach during those weeks.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:12pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">Reminders and closing remarks:</span></p><ul style="margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px"><li dir="ltr" style="margin-left:15px;list-style-type:disc;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><p dir="ltr" role="presentation" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:12pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">P1s were encouraged to complete course evaluations, due soon, since faculty actually read them.</span></p></li><li dir="ltr" style="margin-left:15px;list-style-type:disc;font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline"><p dir="ltr" role="presentation" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size:11pt;background-color:transparent;font-variant-numeric:normal;font-variant-east-asian:normal;font-variant-alternates:normal;vertical-align:baseline">A feedback form will be sent out after Monday’s block exam to evaluate the class leadership performance and for suggestions on fundraisers and so
