Dear Class of 2028
Thank you to everyone who attended the town hall on 2/3/2024! Below is a
summary of the key points discussed:
*Announcements & Updates*
- *NAPLEX Results:* As Dr.Asbill mentioned, our pass rates are above the
national average, but there is room for improvement. He emphasized the
importance of focusing on coursework now, as it will directly impact your
NAPLEX performance.
- *Exam Policy Change:* Backwards navigation will remain active, but
students are encouraged to practice not going back to questions, as this is
how the NAPLEX will be.
- *Kindness & Respect:* A reminder from Dr. Asbill to treat each other
with respect in and out of the classroom.
*Student Concerns & Responses*
- *Temperature Issues in Classrooms:* Dr. Asbill acknowledged the
concern and stated that they are working on it but little can be done with
the way that the building is set up.
- *MacBook Updates & Examplify:* No definitive answer yet on when MacOS
updates will be compatible with Examplify.
- *Timely Communication for Assignments & Exams:* Requests were made for
earlier communication regarding major assignments, such as the Top 100 exam
and required materials. Faculty agreed this should be improved.
- *Top 100 Exam Date:* The class brought up considerations for an
extension due to the block exam being on the same week. Faculty stated that
they can bring it up to Dr. Perkins. A suggestion was made to move it to
Friday, and Dr. Mills offered PPD time to accommodate. As of right now, no
changes have been made to the date of the exam, but class leadership will
let the class know if the exam is moved.
- *In-Class Discussions & Breaks:* A request was made to limit personal
stories and questions during class to help stay on schedule and allow
breaks. Dr. Asbill noted that it is the faculty's responsibility to manage
class time.
- *Classroom Sound Issues:* Many students have struggled to hear
lectures due to poor audio. Dr. Asbill said he will discuss it with IT.
- *Faculty & Student IT Liaison Training:* This will be reviewed to
improve sound output in the classroom.
- *Immunization Lab Concern:* The removal of immunization practice was
noted, and Dr. Mills will discuss with Dr. Trotta about reinstating it in
future years.
- *Having a Calendar of Program Wide Events: *A student requested having
access to a monthly calendar of all the extracurricular events. Ms. Kenley
Byrd stated that there was a calendar and the class secretary sent in
GroupMe to the Class. It is also attached below. Calendar Link

*Upcoming Opportunities*
- *Stem Cell Swab Event:* Volunteer opportunities will be available. The
event is on March 12th.
- *T-Shirt Sale: *T-Shirt sale will end on February 21st. Please buy
your shirts before then so we can place the order.
*General Reminders*
- *Classroom Etiquette:* Side conversations during lectures have
potential to be disruptive. Please be mindful and respectful while
professors are speaking of winding down conversations before classes and
packing up early.
Thank you for your feedback and participation. If you have any additional
concerns, please use the class concern form

future events and fundraisers. On behalf of the class leadership, keep up
the good work!
Best,
