Hello Future Doctors of Pharmacy!
Duke Regional Hospital (DRH) in Durham, NC, is currently recruiting ONE class of 2025 pharmacy student to join our team in the DRH Pharmacy Intern Program. The internship program at DRH is a paid position designed to provide the intern with health-system exposure. It is a 3.5 year program that builds upon each progressing year to give a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy services throughout the community hospital. During the first 1.5 years, interns will learn to navigate central pharmacy and the dispensing aspect of the hospital pharmacy. As they move up to their 3rd and 4th year, they will be decentralized and provide clinical services, such as obtaining medication histories, clinical consults, patient education, and renal dosing of medications.
Hourly requirements as follows:

  * Technical Interns (Years 1 and 2): Every other weekend (8 hrs/day, both Sat and Sun)
  * Clinical Interns (Years 3 and 4): Every other weekend (8 hrs/day, both Sat and Sun) plus 1 or 2 weekdays (5pm-9pm) each week. Each intern will have an assigned weekday that they will work every week. One weekday will be a "rotating" day that will be covered in a rotating fashion between the interns.
This is a unique opportunity that will allow the student to grow in their knowledge base as they progress throughout their education and apply what is learned in the classroom to real world hospital pharmacy practice. Our hospital is one of the few in North Carolina that provides this level of hands-on learning on how to operate as a hospital-based pharmacist.
If there are any questions we can answer, please don't hesitate to reach out. You can also find additional information at https://regionalpharmacy.duke.edu/internship/. Preference will be given to applications on a rolling basis.
All the best,
Manali
