Full Time for Busy Multi-Specialist Clinic, located in Burlington, NC.



Job Description: Kernodle Clinic is a respected and progressive multi-specialty group practice with Clinics in Burlington, Mebane and Elon. Kernodle Clinic is a multi-specialty practice with approximately 100 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers located just off I-40/I-85. Burlington is accessible as a day trip to NC mountains and beaches. Ample recreational activities, shopping, and easy access to metros (Greensboro, Raleigh and Durham) are unique to Burlington.



We are currently seeking patient-focused individual for a Physician Assistant position within our Gastroenterology Department. Experience preferred, but new graduates are welcome. All candidates must be graduates of an accredited PA program, and possess a current licensure/certification to perform as an PA and must exercise the highest degree of professional judgment under the direction of a licensed physician. BLS certification required.



Full time schedule for the position would be Monday through Friday, 8AM-5PM.



Job Type: Full-time



Duties Include, but not limited to the following:

  *   When providing direct patient care, including patient related telephone conversations, uses double identifiers to ensure right patient every time.
  *   Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician.
  *   Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record in EPIC; write progress note; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
  *   Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient
  *   Carry out therapeutic procedures such as wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress.

I'm reaching out regarding an open position on our team at WakeMed General Surgery and Trauma that I'm hoping you may share with alumni and new grads. We have previously only considered candidates with prior experience, however, given how impressed we have been with recent PA students rotating with our service, we are also exploring the possibility of hiring a new graduate candidate.
We are a close-knit group with a standard of providing compassionate and clinically excellent patient care across two hospitals working in general surgery (EGS, MIS, colorectal), trauma, surgical critical care.
Here is a brief list of general expectations from our collaborative team agreement.
 "General Surgery, Trauma & Surgical Critical Care APPs provide comprehensive inpatient care to the surgical and injured patient. This team provides twenty-four-hour inpatient coverage at both WakeMed Raleigh and WakeMed Cary campuses. APPs work in collaboration with attending physicians to provide high quality, compassionate care. Responsibilities include inpatient rounding and discharges, surgical and trauma consultations, trauma activation response, evaluation, resuscitation and care coordination as well as OR assistance and bedside procedures including but not limited to laceration repair, I&D, wound vac application, chest tube insertion and removal, central line placement and arterial line placement. Day, night, weekend and holiday coverage is rotated based upon coverage needs."
