Qualifications and Experience

  *   Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
  *   Physician Assistant license required
  *   Medical training from an approved program
  *   Good knowledge of medical office software such as but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, and medical practice software
  *   Familiarity with EMR programs
  *   Knowledge of medical terminology
  *   Excellent communication skills
  *   Excellent documentation skills
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

  *   Patient evaluation by performing appropriate history and physical exams
  *   Ordering laboratory, radiological and special studies
  *   Performing diagnostic procedures such as, but not limited to, physical examination, phlebotomy, catheterization, joint injections and aspirations and administering of vaccines
  *   Performing therapeutic procedures such as, but not limited to, suturing of wounds, foreign body removal, I&D of abscesses, reduction of fractures and dislocations, splinting, casting, and injections
  *   Assisting the surgeon in the OR as designated
  *   Reading and interpreting imaging studies and laboratory reports
  *   Initiation of life-saving measures as needed
  *   Diagnosing and treating minor illnesses of employees of EmergeOrtho, P.A.
  *   Telephone contact with patients as appropriate.
Other

  *   Involvement in QI and research programs.
  *   Attendance at educational and department meetings.
  *   Intermittent OR, UC, and other clinic coverage required.

This position is based out of our Durham clinic. Hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with both clinic and OR coverage with our Foot and Ankle service.
