If you could please pass on the below to your graduating class, I just wanted to send a reminder that our application is March 1. Thank you!



I am the program director of the Duke Postgraduate PA Surgical Residency program. We take five PAs a year. The residency program starts October 1, 2024. It is a 13-month program. I request you to kindly pass this information to your graduating Class of 2024



If anyone is seriously interested, they can call or email me anytime and I can answer any questions they may have to help make an informed decision. Our program's website outlines the application process. Jennie (cc'd here), our program coordinator can answer any questions about the logistics of the application process.

Benefits in addition to the stipend of $63,404/year*** (Same pay, responsibilities, and duty hours of an MD PGY1 resident, exact amount determined each year).

  1.  parking
  2.  medical and liability insurance.
  3.  Two white coats
  4.   Two personalized scrubs + OR scrubs
  5.  DEA reimbursement ($888)
  6.  A 1-year paid subscription to the American College of Surgeons' Fundamentals of Surgical Curriculum an online training module
  7.  Meal allowance when on call ($12 when staying in the hospital after 7 PM or before 5:30 AM)
  8.  Student loan payments can be deferred while enrolled in the residency as it is considered postgraduate education.



October is the didactic month with no clinical responsibilities. November is the first clinical rotation.
