If you are working in an unpaid public interest law internship (not externship) this summer, consider applying for a 2023 Campbell Law Public Interest Law Summer Grant. To apply, you must submit:

  1.  Signed application (located in Symplicity)
  2.  Resume
  3.  Public Interest Statement/Cover letter (specifically addressing the items listed in the application)
  4.  Proof of employment (can be an official letter or simple email from your placment)



For the purposes of these grants, “’Public interest law’ means any employment that is unpaid in which the student provides legal services which directly or indirectly serve the poor, needy, or indigent, or clients who have an acute need for legal help due to age, mental or physical condition, financial vulnerability, or lack of access to the courts. a.) Legal and social causes that may lack easily identifiable clients (e.g. environmental law, may fall within the definition of public interest if the applicant shows that the cause is underrepresented or is critical for the public good). b.) “Public interest law” does not refer to judicial clerkships or placement within a state or federal prosecutor’s office (i.e. district attorney). Consequently, the summer grants cannot be used for these types of public service experiences.”
