Friends,

My lovely brother, Stan Leonard, lost his long battle with liver cancer Sunday.  Growing up in Welcome, we shared a room and a bed.  Our time was taken up with endless games not only of football, basketball, and baseball, but also of ping pong, croquet, badminton and horseshoes. Stan was a remarkable athlete, winning all-conference and all-state recognition as the football center, basketball forward and baseball catcher. He followed me to Carolina, and had a successful career with Buckner Steel supervising construction projects all over the southeast. His two sons, my older boys, and my sister' s only son were the same ages and we raised them as a tribe.  I hold onto fond memories.
