As I mentioned yesterday, the University is sponsoring a campus-wide collection effort through the Baptists on Mission program. We now have collection bins on the first floor near security and in the student commons. If you wish to donate, below are the items identified as most needed:
- Hygiene items
- Baby products (diapers, formula)
- Cleaning supplies (shovels, mops, paper towels, trash bags, etc.)
- Canned food, can openers
- Paper Plates, Paper Bowls, Spoons, Forks, etc.
*We are NOT accepting CLOTHING.
With fall break approaching, I know that many of you would like to volunteer in person to help. I commend your efforts. I am looking for opportunities for myself I would ask that you individually affiliate with an established disaster relief agency taking volunteers and work under their auspices. Although it is fine to identify as a Campbell law student, we are not trained in disaster relief. I cannot have an initiative mounted that is in any way sponsored by the law school, or any department, student group or project. Western North Carolina right now is dangerous and risky, and if anyone were to be hurt or injured, there could be unforeseen consequences. As lawyers you understand.
Dean Leonard
