Notice of Proposed Student Organization | Campbell Environmental Law Association

An Application for Organization Charter for Campbell Law Environmental Law Association has been approved by the Office of Student Life and Pro Bono Opportunities. Please see the attached Application for Organization Charter and Constitution. As a part of the student organization chartering process, a “Notice of Proposed Student Organization” announcement will be added to the Week Ahead Newsletter for the two weeks immediately following the approval of the organization.  Any student may appeal the creation of a student organization to the Community, Diversity, and Student Life Committee within ten (10) business days of the first, published “Notice of Proposed Student Organization” announcement. To begin the appeal process, the student must send an email to the Assistant Dean of Student Life, Pro Bono Opportunities, and Belonging, Regina Chavis at rchavis at campbell.edu<mailto:rchavis at campbell.edu> and the Chair of the Community, Diversity, and Student Life Committee, Suzanna Geiser at sgeiser at campbell.edu<mailto:sgeiser at campbell.edu>.  The Community, Diversity, and Student Life Committee will investigate the appeal in a timely manner. Any decision by the Community, Diversity, and Student Life Committee will be reviewed by Dean Leonard who retains final approval authority. Purpose of the Proposed Organization:

The American Bar Association Student Judicial Division’s aim is to facilitate meaningful connections between law school students and members of the judiciary. Students will gain valuable insights into the legal profession, learn about the experiences and perspectives of judges and district attorneys, and make meaningful connections. Ultimately, the club seeks to foster a supportive and informative environment that empowers students to engage with the judiciary, develop professional relationships, and pursue their career goals within the legal field.


Goals of the Proposed Organization:
● Educate law school students about the roles and responsibilities of professionals in the judiciary.
●Provide insight into the career paths and opportunities available in the judiciary for aspiring legal professionals.
● Offer advice on how to navigate the application and selection process for jobs in the judiciary
● Promote diversity and inclusion within the judiciary by showcasing the experiences and perspectives of judges and district attorneys from diverse backgrounds.
● Highlight the importance of ethical conduct, fairness, and impartiality in the legal profession
● Provide networking opportunities for students to connect with professionals for mentorship, internships, and potential career opportunities.

NC LAP
We welcome volunteers from our North Carolina Lawyer Assistance Program (NCLAP), who provide free mental health resources to every lawyer, law student, and judge in the state. Common reasons students seek assistance include: bar disclosure, character & fitness processes, alcohol or substance use concerns, guidance around discoverable personal information, anxiety, etc. Services are free and confidential. Nicki Ellington, Eastern Clinical Coordinator for NCLAP, will be sharing information on LAP services and the ways in which LAP works with law students.  Two LAP volunteers will share their experience with working with LAP and how they use the tools gained through recovery in their current law practice. To celebrate the end of the year, CAs from Residence Life are collaborating with multiple campus partners to provide a 3-course meal to Campbell students. Students will get to tailor each course to their own tastes as they "create" their own meals and leave with the recipes to make more later.

SEER Law Student Writing Competition - Are you a student who is interested in environmental, energy, and resources law? Get involved with the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) by submitting a paper to the SEER law student writing competition. Entries for the 2024 writing competition program are being accepted through May 31, 2024. There are five writing competition topics from which to choose this year: (1) Air, Water, and Food, (2) Biodiversity, (3) Energy Law, (4) Indigenous Law, and (5) Recycling. Campbell Law is now an approved drop-off location for Lunchdrop! Lunchdrop is a food delivery service that delivers from select restaurants daily. All you have to do is make an account, and you can start ordering lunch delivered right to the law school. Orders must be made before 10:30 a.m., and the lunches will be dropped off in the lobby. This is a weekly prayer request form provided by the Campbell Law student chapter of the Christian Legal Society.  The purpose of this form is to provide Campbell Law students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to request prayer for the needs that they may have, whether those needs be physical or spiritual and on their own behalf or on behalf of another. Every week, the officers of the Campbell Law Christian Legal Society will read all prayer requests and gather together to lift those supplications to the Lord in prayer. Please know that all prayer requests will be held in the strictest confidence unless you tell us otherwise. We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will grant you grace for every need.

"[D]o not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV).
