Subject: Judges Needed: 2023 Region V - National Trial Competition

Dear Friends, Campbell Law Alumni, and Advocacy Supporters,

Campbell Law is proud to serve as the Region V host of the National Trial Competition's regional tournament from February 17-19, 2023. Trial teams from virtually every law school in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia will be attending the competition to be hosted in Raleigh, NC, at the Wake County Courthouse. We need your help in making this event a success. As such, we invite you to serve as a presiding and/or scoring judge for the regional competition by registering online at the link here.<https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4CADA82EA4F5C34-ntcregion1> The information with specific dates/times can be found in the link as well. As we approach January 2023, Dean Tilly (cc'd above), Anjanette Porter (cc'd above), and I will reach out regarding assigned rounds and roles to those of you who opt to volunteer.

NTC is unique in that teams must direct and cross witnesses they have not worked with extensively prior to trial. The goal is to provide student advocates with witnesses that more closely resemble what they may experience in a real trial. We do hope that you can help provide student advocates with that same experience as well.

In an effort to thank you for volunteering to participate in the competition, I have begun the process to hopefully obtain CLE credit for those who volunteer to judge. I should have an update as to whether that request will be granted by January 2023. Nonetheless, your name will also be placed in a drawing to receive an iPad or other Apple item of your choice of equal or lesser value. The more times you serve as a judge, the more times you will be entered into the drawing.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email tmterry at campbell.edu<mailto:tmterry at campbell.edu>. We hope to see you soon!

With gratitude,

Dean Tilly and Tatiana Terry
