Alumnus found clarity through his internship

Jeff Rea (’91) arrived at Campbell in 1987 wanting to become a pharmacist. He planned to follow in the footsteps of his parents, both his grandfathers, and his great-grandfather, who were all pharmacists. Spending much of his childhood in and around a pharmacy, this career path seemed natural. What he quickly realized upon his arrival at Campbell was that it was not the medical aspect of pharmacy that interested him, but the administrative component.

ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT | CAMELLINK IN THE CLASSROOM

CamelLink is the Alumni Association’s digital mentoring platform that allows students to connect with Campbell University alumni virtually. Through the platform, students can filter the alumni network using search criteria like industry, job title, special interests, geographic location to help them identify possible mentors.

Since our launch last fall, we’ve seen students connect with alumni to discuss subjects like major exploration, internship possibilities, career pathways, graduate programs, certifications and more. Encourage your students to use our network of Campbell alumni to help them grow professionally.

To discuss ways to implement CamelLink in your classroom, please email Nikki Olive at nolive at campbell.edu<mailto:nolive at campbell.edu>.

Information sessions will be held virtually on Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. and Aug. 17, at 3 p.m.

BURSAR'S OFFICE | CHANGE IN PAYMENTS

On Behalf of the Campbell University Bursar's Office:

Effective July 1, the Campbell University Bursar’s Office will no longer accept credit or debit card payments in the McLeod Admissions and Financial Aid Center.

Credit/debit card payments will only be accepted online through the TouchNet payment portal. Students and authorized users must login to the secured portal to process card payments. A confirmation email will be sent to the user’s email address, and the student account will be automatically updated.

A non-refundable processing fee will be added for credit/debit card payments to offset bank processing fees. The fee is assessed by our third-party servicer provider. Campbell does not receive any portion of fees collected. To avoid paying a convenience fee, students may pay online using electronic check (sometimes referred to as an ACH transfer), or a paper check or money order may be mailed to: Campbell University Bursar's Office, P.O. Box 97, Buies Creek, NC 27506

Campbell University will continue to accept cash and check payments in the Bursar’s Office, as well as check payments by mail. Campus dining locations, Bookstore, and Health Center will continue to accept card payments.

Best Regards,

Deborah Gibbs
University Bursar

COUNSELING SERVICES | SERVICES FOR F/S AND STUDENTS

The staff at Counseling Services wants to take a second to send a sincere, big "thank you" to Campbell faculty and staff for all they do for our students, especially during a global pandemic. You are boots on the ground every day, and it does not go unnoticed.

Services for Faculty/Staff

We know you are at the forefront of most mental health concerns of our students because they typically report those concerns to you, your staff, and/or Residence Life staff first. Please keep in mind that we are ALWAYS just an email (amjohnson at campbell.edu<mailto:amjohnson at campbell.edu>) or phone call (910-814-5709) away to serve as a consultant. It can be helpful to talk things through and create a plan with support from others in any situation but especially if there are mental health concerns involved.

We are here to offer YOU and your staff services over the summer, as well as offer services to your students. This summer, we will offer a processing group for faculty to help come up with new ideas to meet the everchanging needs of your students. Please email us for more information if you are interested.

We will offer a “Foundations” skill building group for staff to help them learn basic skills to deal with anxiety, depression, and all the things life throws at us. We will offer a Boundaries group for all faculty and staff interested in learning more about how to effectively set boundaries, dust off old skills, and even learn new skills because setting boundaries is not always easy.

If you feel there are additional areas that we could offer support in, or if you want more information about these services, please contact us!

Services for your students:
Our practicing adults can really benefit from additional skills to be successful in your classroom and beyond. We are offering individual sessions over the summer, both in-person and virtually. Workshops have been helpful to address common concerns that have a negative impact on academic performance such as procrastination, time management (mostly finding the balance with social and academics but there is more to it too), relationships, and so on.

We ask that you share these opportunities with your students. If you have suggestions or needs for additional services, please let us know. If you want to refer a student, please have them call (910-814-5709) or walk into the office (a brick house at 233 Leslie Campbell Ave. across from Luby Wood Residence Hall and between Memorial Baptist and Greek Housing). If you need someone to cover a class or have a presentation on a topic related to mental health, we are happy to help.

Groups:

  *   Joy Writing Group
  *   Well-Made or Cultivating Compassion
  *   Mind, Body, Spirit Group
  *   Substance Use Process Group
  *   Transitions Group
  *   Dual Diagnosis Group
  * Head Strong: Finding Balance in Life as a Student Athlete
