[Law28] Resume Program/Registration for this Tuesday at noon

Good afternoon!



We hope your first week of classes went well and your semester is off to a good start.  We know that as 1Ls, you have a lot of information to process, and it can be difficult to know what is most important. Beyond your classes, which should be your priority this semester, here is what you need to know from a Career and Professional Development standpoint to begin laying the groundwork for a successful 1L summer job search . Although it seems early to be thinking about it, recruiting season begins earlier than you might think, and our goal is to equip you with the tools and information you need for success.



Most 1L summer job searching begins in earnest after December 1 and can run well into the spring of your second semester. However, there will be opportunities to begin networking with employers before December 1, including Career Night on November 10. Here are the steps to prioritize now so you are prepared for every stage of the process:

This Tuesday, August 26 at 12:00pm in room 105 our office is hosting the first installment of our Prepare To Launch 1L Professional Development Series. As part of a successful job search, you will need a polished, industry standard legal resume that effectively communicates who you are as a professional and reflects what legal employers expect to see in a resume. Come learn what you need to know to craft yours. Register here<https://cuweb.wufoo.com/forms/p1tlm34k1x6ca2o/>  by 10:00 am on Monday and we will treat you to lunch.

Between September 15 and October 31, our office will conduct a mandatory 30 minute Initial Counseling/Resume Review meeting with each of you to review your legal resume.  You will receive an email from our office in early September with instructions on how to set up a Symplicity account. It will also include your designated meting day/time, and instructions on how to make the most of that meeting. Once it is finalized and approved, you will upload your resume to Symplicity and on or around November 1 you will gain access to the job bank.

The Prepare to Launch 1L Professional Development Series programs are designed to help you prepare for each step leading up to Career Night and ultimately the start of your 1L job search. The dates are in Monday's Career Advisor newsletter, so make sure they are on your calendar!

The Career Advisor newsletter is our office's primary means of communicating with you. It comes from the Campbell Law Career Center email (lawcareercenter at campbell.edu<mailto:lawcareercenter at campbell.edu>) every Monday morning at 8:00 am. We strongly encourage you to take a couple of minutes to read it each week and stay abreast of what you need to know to successfully manage your career and professional development journey. It is carefully curated for you as 1Ls to include information you need to be ready when your 1L job search begins. The newsletter will also link key resources, forecast upcoming hiring timelines, and provide career and best practice tips and advice.
