Since you all were away last week, our office would like to highlight 3 things as you prepare to head back to school tomorrow:

Tuesday, March 19 at noon: Navigating Real Life Sticky Situations - American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) panel, lunch and networking event (Room 307)

We are excited to welcome American Academy of Trial Layers (ACTL) fellows Sandra Hairston, the United States Attorney for the Middle District, Charles Raynal, partner at Parker Poe in Raleigh who specializes in high stakes litigation in multi district cases,, and Mark Anderson, partner at McGuire Woods in Raleigh who leads the firm's national trial team. All of our panelists are extremely experienced and highly accomplished trial lawyers with diverse areas of practice in civil and criminal litigation settings. This is an incredible networking opportunity with these 3 attorneys together on one panel.

Come see how, through a series of real life vignettes, our panelists navigate sticky situations where best practices aren't always easy to discern. Chime in, ask questions, and get practical advice. The ACTL is recognized as "the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics and the administration of justice."  Come learn and enjoy lunch and plenty of time for networking.  The event will be held in Room 307 and panelists will remain after 1:00 pm to chat with students who do not have class and want to connect.

Mark, an acclaimed litigator who leads McGuireWoods’ national trial team, represents clients in their most challenging matters in courts across the country. Throughout his 30-year career, he has prepared hundreds of complicated cases for trial and has served as lead appellate counsel in dozens of reported decisions. Mark’s trial practice remains very active as reflected by the 26 trial weeks he spent as lead counsel for seven jury trials in six different jurisdictions during the two years preceding the pandemic. He completed one “zoom” trial during the pandemic.
