<p class="MsoNormal">For the purposes of these grants, “’Public interest law’ means any employment that is unpaid in which the student provides legal services which directly or indirectly serve the poor, needy, or indigent, or clients who have an acute need
for legal help due to age, mental or physical condition, financial vulnerability, or lack of access to the courts. a.) Legal and social causes that may lack easily identifiable clients (e.g. environmental law, may fall within the definition of public interest
if the applicant shows that the cause is underrepresented or is critical for the public good). b.) “Public interest law” does not refer to judicial clerkships or placement within a state or federal prosecutor’s office (i.e. district attorney). Consequently,
the summer grants cannot be used for these types of public service experiences.”<o:p></o:p></p>
