As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we honor Dr. Lynnette C. Gilmore<https://www.iinapt.com/about>, a proud member of the Diné (Navajo) Nation and a dedicated physical therapist who has devoted her career to serving Indigenous communities.
Dr. Gilmore earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2009 and began her journey through the Indian Health Service (IHS) scholarship program, providing care on the Navajo Nation. Her experiences shaped her mission to expand access to quality healthcare in Native communities and to inspire future Indigenous health professionals.
Today, Dr. Gilmore continues to advocate for representation and equity in rehabilitation sciences. As a co-founder of the Indigenous Physical Therapy Network (IPTN), she helps connect and empower Native and allied health practitioners nationwide. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to cultural respect, community wellness, and mentorship in the health sciences.
This month, we celebrate Dr. Gilmore’s impact and recognize the ongoing contributions of Native American healthcare professionals who continue to advance healing, inclusion, and education within the health sciences.
