Hello Class of 2029!



May I be one of the first to wish you a Happy New Year!  Thank you to everyone who has applied for our first round of elections so far.  This is the final reminder that the application on Presence for these positions will close at 5 pm today. Letter of intent and video are due to me by Monday, January 5th at 5PM. Voting for Group 1 will start on Tuesday, January 6th and go until Thursday, January 8th at 8:00 PM.  You will get another email with those details.



Our next round of Elections (Group 2) will be next week and include the following positions:



SGA: Treasurer, Secretary, Diversity Chair, Touch Coordinator, Scholarship Chair, Mental Health Chair, and Social Chair

SOMA: Treasurer, Secretary, National Liaison, Community Outreach Director, Med Gala Chair, Overdose Prevention Task Force Committee Chair, Political Action Director, PR Director, Pre-Soma Director, Student Affairs Director



All Presence applications are due on Wednesday, January 7th at 11:59 PM.  Positions in RED require both a letter of intent and video speech due to me on Monday, January 12th at 5:00 PM.  All other positions only require a letter of intent due to me at the same time.

As a reminder, if you have never used Presence, please look at the instructions below.

1.     Go to: https://campbell.presence.io<https://campbell.presence.io/> and at the top right, login using your Campbell credentials.

2.     Once approved as a user, you will be able to click on "Organizations" on the top search bar.

3.     In the search box that appears, type in the word "forms."  This should bring up the "Forms" organizational page.  Click on that page banner.

4.     Once to the Forms page, click "Forms" from the selection menu at the center of the page.

5.     Under "Forms," select "Election Group X."  X matches the group on the schedule.  Fill out the form for the position you are applying for.

a.       As listed in the Academic Bulletin (section 7.3.1), a student must have a cumulative GPA of ? 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as calculated at the end of each grading period, have no course failures, and cannot be on academic or on conduct warning or probation to serve as a club or class officer (yellow and purple on spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcIYuV53_itDLpd-ghzqUdweM-jtjoKd3NDhfYcp8ZU/edit?usp=sharing>).  Any position in green does not require a 3.0 GPA.  If you have any questions regarding your GPA, please contact our Registrar's Office (naylor at campbell.edu<mailto:naylor at campbell.edu>).  Please note, our Registrar will not be able to respond to requests until January 2nd.

Hi everyone!

We are excited to share that the Street Medicine Team is expanding and opening leadership opportunities for any first year medical student interested in serving our local community.

As you know, the Street Medicine team is a new and growing initiative, focused on meeting patients where they are and providing compassionate, nonjudgmental care while building trust within the community. As the program continues to develop, we are seeking motivated first-year students who are interested in stepping into leadership roles and helping shape the future of the team.

While the current leadership team will be transitioning off campus next year due to clinical rotations, we will remain actively involved during this transition period. Our goal is to provide guidance, mentorship, and continuity as new leaders step into their roles, ensuring a smooth and supported handoff.

Requirements: No prior experience is required. Students applying for leadership positions may not hold another leadership role within CUCCC. Leadership positions require a minimum GPA of 3.0. Leadership positions are only available to first year medical students.

I wanted to share this exciting CME opportunity with you all - it's a one-day conference held locally CUSOM with a focus on mental health in primary care on 02/28. As you all know, mental health comprises a large part of our practice and this session is geared to address various topics to help guide us with topics such as trauma informed care, chronic pain and depression, treatment refractory depression, benzodiazepine tapers and more. Our speakers are phenomenal and I'm sure it will be of valuable to your practice and skill set. Speakers include Dr. Agnello, Dr. Jordan from NC Star, Dr. Krepps which you may be familiar with.

Happy first day back and start to block 3. As some of you may have seen in the class of 2029 groupme there have been no applications for the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) President and Vice President. These are some really important positions that offer a lot of opportunity, and I think are definitely worth applying for. Tori Kowalkowski, the current SOMA president, is attached to this email and would be excited to answer any questions you may have about SOMA. In order to provide some more time for interested applicants we will shift the SOMA president and vice president application to the Group 2 elections. My name is Angela Jacdedt, I have taken over for the amazing Ana Bravo as Lead Spanish Interpreter for the CUCCC. I am looking for students who speak Spanish and want to become interpreters for the clinic. Please email me at amjacdedt1107 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:amjacdedt1107 at email.campbell.edu> and we can schedule an assessment. I will plan on doing assessments this weekend (1/10-1/11) and next weekend (1/17-1/18), they take about 30-40min.

Also, if you speak Spanish but cannot commit to being a translator please let me know so that I can note that you won't need a translator if/when you pick up a shift as an MS1/MS2 - however, you would still need to be assessed prior to your shift.

Block 3 is in full swing-and you've GOT THIS!

Tip:

  *   Stay up with anatomy gross lab as you go!  Make the most of your lab sessions going through the dissector and making sure YOU can identify structures (first with your cadaver and then, take it to the next level with a different cadaver).  Be present and actively engaged in YOUR learning!
  *   Level up your learning...as you learn to identify structures...can you connect this with their normal functions?  What about the pathologies you are learning in your lectures?  How can you connect what you are learning in lab with the other content you are learning in both anatomy and MSK lectures?
  *   Take advantage of Anatomy Lab Drop-In Hours hosted by our incredible PLPs-the first one is next Friday!  (Want the full schedule for Block 3?  Check it out on the CUSOM ACE Blackboard Organization).

Happy New Year and welcome back to campus! We are looking for several student volunteers to attend our CUSOM Admissions Virtual Applicant Day ? Medical Student Q&A Panel Sessions/Spring 2026 with our interview candidates. Admissions interviews will take place weekly throughout the academic year, and we would like to give our MS-1 and MS-2 students an opportunity to meet with our candidates. You may remember your interview day and how helpful the student Q & A panel sessions were for you! Our sessions will take place virtually via Zoom each week, Monday-Tuesday, 12:00-12:50pm. Once you sign up, you will receive an Outlook calendar invitation with a Zoom link prior to your scheduled date. If you have a conflict on your scheduled day, you may have a classmate fill your spot or feel free to contact me. We know you are busy and if you can only join us for a few minutes, we would truly appreciate your assistance!

Good afternoon, Class of 2029,



The quiz file for Block 3 - Quiz 1 will be available at 7:00am Monday morning. The download will close at 7:50am.



Please ensure that you download the exam before 7:50am on Monday morning. Your seating assignment for the quiz will be posted on the lecture hall doors at approx. 7:30am.

You should be in the lecture hall ready to begin by 7:50am. If you arrive late, you will lose time.

The password will be given to you in class prior to the 8:00am start. Remember, you must download and take the quiz on your CUSOM supplied laptop.


Remember - All students must leave ALL personal items either locked in a locker or at the front of the lecture hall during assessments. Students are NOT permitted to access phones, personal laptops, etc. during assessments. A student caught accessing any personal items during a quiz or exam will be sent to the APPS committee.



The quiz is 14 questions (Anatomy 01-07 and MSK 01-07) and you will have 19 minutes to complete it.



The end time for this quiz is approximately 8:19am.  All students will remain seated until everyone has uploaded their quiz.



 There will be an optional 7-minute review at approximately 8:30am. You must be present in the lecture hall to review your quiz.  Question challenges will be due by 9:30am on Friday.



PLEASE restart your computer and run ALL updates this weekend. This will help eliminate many potential problems at the start of the quiz.

This is your reminder that there is only ONE week left to purchase tickets for the 2026 Med Gala! Don?t miss out on an unforgettable evening at the Sheraton Raleigh on Saturday, February 7th from 7?11 PM.

Tickets are $60, and each student may purchase up to 2 tickets (one for themselves and one guest). Your ticket includes hors d?oeuvres, refreshments, photobooths, and a full night of music and dancing.

Good afternoon, students,

I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon the current political climate, both nationally and internationally, and let you know that as we continue to navigate numerous challenges as a nation, we recognize that these events may create additional stress and anxiety for our students. While each student?s journey is unique, CUSOM is committed to supporting our students both academically and personally. I wanted to remind you to start this year off with some healthy habits. Talk about what concerns you ? don?t keep it bottled up. Our Behavioral Health Team is always here to be a source of support through whatever circumstance you may find yourself in. Please reach out and know you are not alone. More information is below for you and as you already know, my door is always open as well.

As you all know, we have a WONDERFUL Behavioral Health Team at CUSOM that you may utilize for unlimited in-person or virtual appointments by emailing cusombh at campbell.edu<mailto:cusombh at campbell.edu>. Ms. Teresa Butrum, our fabulous Departmental Manager, will assist you in setting up an appointment. Ms. Butrum may also be reached at (910) 893-7203, or you may always stop by her desk in the north hallway to schedule an appointment.

Some of you may also want to use our partner service, ?MyGroup?, which is available 24/7/365 ? any hour of the day or night - even on weekends or holidays, when our Behavioral Health Team is not in the office.

To use MyGroup for RESOURCES/INFORMATION:
