If you'd rather listen or watch the video for this info, [?mp4 icon] Parking Lot List & One Day at a Time.mp4<https://campbell0-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/annewton0108_campbell_edu/EWdqBNu4NKhMjWEeo4fkgcwBvROkrvVmuYf03dsMLajSgQ?e=g1oieC>

TIPS this week:

  1. Take one day at a time-and when that is too much, take it one hour at a time. When I get overwhelmed, I focus on what I can do in this moment and do my best with that moment, or with that particular task, or the 30 minutes I do have, whatever is the most manageable and/or realistic "piece" for the situation.
  2. Unburden your mind with all the things. "Park" the to-do list somewhere other than letting them swirl around in your head, distracting you from doing the work or worse, making your anxiety grow AND distracting you from what you really need to be doing.

Ask yourself, "Anything on this list that I MUST do today? As in, if I do not do it today, then, there will be serious consequences? Or can this wait?" Be honest and brutal especially if there is more than you have time and space for today.

     * If the answer is "yes", then you actually do need to figure out how much time that is going to take and when you are going to take care of that task without sacrificing other "must do" like sleep or class.
     * If the answer is "this can wait" or "I really would like to get this done" or "no, not serious consequences-but...", then guess what, it can wait.
     * And, if everything on that list can actually wait, then tuck that list away (literally AND metaphorically) and focus on what you need to do TODAY. You can look at the "parking lot" when you have space and time or when something moves from :"Can wait to --> absolutely CANNOT wait!".

Also, if you missed any of our earlier sessions:

  * Moving from Lecture to Learning: Effective & Efficient Study Strategies
  *   Test-Taking Strategies & Managing Stress/Anxiety
  * How to Decompress & Reassess after an Exam
