Dear Class of 2029,



Congratulations on completing Block 2!  This is the first of many emails laying out the process of elections for SGA, SOMA, and Class Leadership along with General Club Elections.





Attached to this email is a list of available positions as well as the election schedule.  Please pay attention to what week each position is up for election.  I will send out weekly specific emails as the time approaches.





Most positions require completion of an application on Presence.  Applications for Groups 1 and 2 are now officially open.  If you would like to work on those over break, you are welcome to.  However, they are not due until the listed date in January found later in this email.  Group 3 and 4 applications will open at the specified time listed later in this email.





If you have never used Presence, please look at the instructions below.

1.    Go to: https://campbell.presence.io<https://campbell.presence.io/> and at the top right, login using your Campbell credentials.

2.    Once approved as a user, you will be able to click on "Organizations" on the top search bar.

3.    In the search box that appears, type in the word “forms.”  This should bring up the “Forms” organizational page.  Click on that page banner.

4.    Once to the Forms page, click “Forms” from the selection menu at the center of the page.

5.    Under “Forms,” select “Election Group X.”  X matches the group on the schedule.  Fill out the form for the position you are applying for.

a.       As listed in the Academic Bulletin (section 7.3.1), a student must have a cumulative GPA of ≥ 3.0 on a 4.0 scale as calculated at the end of each grading period, have no course failures, and cannot be on academic or on conduct warning or probation to serve as a club or class officer (yellow and purple on spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcIYuV53_itDLpd-ghzqUdweM-jtjoKd3NDhfYcp8ZU/edit?usp=sharing>).  Any position in green does not require a 3.0 GPA.  If you have any questions regarding your GPA, please contact our Registrar’s Office (naylor at campbell.edu<mailto:naylor at campbell.edu>).  Please note, our Registrar will not be able to respond to requests until January 2nd.

Additionally, many of the class leadership, SGA, and SOMA positions require a letter of intent and video recorded speech.  The speeches and letters will be submitted directly to me via email at mwbaker1004 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:mwbaker1004 at email.campbell.edu>.  Once you have been approved by the Registrar’s Office, you will be able to submit these items.  In an effort to keep these submissions organized, I ask that the email subject line read in a format “Organization Position - Last Name, First Name” (i.e. SGA Vice President - Baker, Matthew).  This will help me tremendously with streamlining dissemination of your application materials.  You are also welcome to begin working on these items over winter break, but they are also not due until the listed date in January found further in this email. A couple of notes on elections:

1.    Please note that you are able to run for as many positions as you like.  However, there are no dual appointments.  This means if you win two or more elections, you will be assigned to the position in which you win the greatest percentage of votes.

2.    If you are elected to an SGA executive position, SOMA executive position, or Class of 2029 President or Vice President position, you are not allowed to hold any other ELECTED positions at CUSOM (with the exception of CUCCC leadership board)! Please consider this before running for any of these positions.  Each student can only hold one club (orange on spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcIYuV53_itDLpd-ghzqUdweM-jtjoKd3NDhfYcp8ZU/edit?usp=sharing>) executive position (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer), however that same student is eligible to hold an interest group (blue on spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcIYuV53_itDLpd-ghzqUdweM-jtjoKd3NDhfYcp8ZU/edit?usp=sharing>) position as well.





CUSOM Elections 2025-’26


Election Group 1: SGA, SOMA, and Class President and Vice President Elections

Application on Presence opens: Friday morning, December 12th

Application on Presence due: Thursday, January 1st at 11:59 PM

Letter of intent PDF and video submission due: Monday, January 5th at 5:00 PM

Voting by all CUSOM Classes (Class-specific is 2029 only): January 6-8th by 8:00

PM

Winners Announced: Mid-morning Friday, January 9th


Election Group 2:

All other SGA and SOMA Positions

*Video required for SGA and SOMA Secretary and Treasurer

*No Video for SGA or SOMA non-elected positions

Application on Presence opens: Friday morning, December 12th

Application on Presence due: Wednesday, January 7th at 11:59 PM

Letter of intent PDF and video submission due: Monday, January 12th at 5:00 PM

Voting By All CUSOM Classes: January 13-15th by 8:00 PM

Winners Announced: Mid-morning Friday, January 16th


For election groups 1 and 2, you will submit an initial application to Presence.  This will allow the Registrar to confirm you are eligible for the position.  After that, you will need to email me (mwbaker1004 at email.campbell.edu<mailto:mwbaker1004 at email.campbell.edu>) your letter of intent (<500 words, in PDF format) and video speech.  This video should be around 2-3 minutes, no more than 5 minutes, explaining why you would be best for the position.  ONLY SGA (all elected positions, not board), SOMA (all elected positions), Class President, and Class Vice President need to record a video.  All board members still need to email me their letter of intent.  Your name and the position that you are running for should be at the top of your letter. Election Group 3: Clubs

Application on Presence opens: Thursday morning, January 1st

Application on Presence due for all positions: Wednesday, January 14th at 11:59 PM

Eligible Applicants will be sent to MS2 club leaders: Monday afternoon, January 19th

Individual club voting will occur: January 20th-22nd by 8:00 PM

Winners announced: Mid-morning Friday, January 23rd


Election Group 4: Interest Groups

Application on Presence opens: Wednesday morning, January 7th

Application on Presence due for all positions: Wednesday, January 21st at 11:59 PM

Application will be sent to group leaders: Monday afternoon, January 26th

Individual group voting will occur: January 27-29th by 8:00PM.

Winners Announced: Mid-morning Friday, January 30th
