Good morning, Class of 2028,

I hope you all had a great break and a wonderful holiday season!

The Review Exam scheduled for Tuesday, January 6 will take place IN PERSON in Lecture Hall 202. This will be a full-length practice exam provided by Kaplan. The exam will begin at 8:30am. PLEASE plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. When you arrive, you will need to sign the sign-in sheet so that we may confirm your attendance within the Kaplan portal. The attendance confirmation process will take some time, so it is very important that you arrive early.

The exam is 320 questions total (8 blocks). You will have 8 hours plus a 60-minute lunch break. The exam will end at 5:30pm. There is no review for this exam.

Please take time to review the attached login information and support guide from Kaplan. You will need to make sure you are able to access your Kaptest.com account prior to Tuesday morning. To access the exam, you will log in to your Kaptest.com account and you will find the exam under the Level 1 Qbank ? Inst resource. The exam will become available in your account once we confirm that you are present on Tuesday morning, and we will provide the password at the start of the exam.

I wanted to share this exciting CME opportunity with you all - it's a one-day conference held locally CUSOM with a focus on mental health in primary care on 02/28. As you all know, mental health comprises a large part of our practice and this session is geared to address various topics to help guide us with topics such as trauma informed care, chronic pain and depression, treatment refractory depression, benzodiazepine tapers and more. Our speakers are phenomenal and I'm sure it will be of valuable to your practice and skill set. Speakers include Dr. Agnello, Dr. Jordan from NC Star, Dr. Krepps which you may be familiar with.

Nick McMurry and I are running Mr.CUSOM this year and wanted to send out some information as we get closer to the show! REMINDER: Please review the attached login information prior to tomorrow's exam. Make sure that you are able to access your kaptest.com account. Additionally, please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the exam. You will need to sign in when you arrive so that we may confirm your attendance within the Kaplan portal.

TIMING INFORMATION: The timing of this Kaplan practice exam was recently updated to reflect the changes to COMLEX Level 1. Therefore, there will not be a mandatory lunch break at 12:30pm. You will have 8 hours to complete the exam (1 hour per 40-question block) plus a running 1-hour break time. Break time can be taken between blocks 2-3, 4-5, and 6-7. So, when you finish Block 1, it will immediately go to Block 2. You will see the break window (as shown below) once you complete Block 2.

Good morning, Class of 2028,

I hope you all had a great break and a wonderful holiday season!

The Review Exam scheduled for Tuesday, January 6 will take place IN PERSON in Lecture Hall 202. This will be a full-length practice exam provided by Kaplan. The exam will begin at 8:30am. PLEASE plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. When you arrive, you will need to sign the sign-in sheet so that we may confirm your attendance within the Kaplan portal. The attendance confirmation process will take some time, so it is very important that you arrive early.

The exam is 320 questions total (8 blocks). You will have 8 hours plus a 60-minute lunch break. The exam will end at 5:30pm. There is no review for this exam.

Please take time to review the attached login information and support guide from Kaplan. You will need to make sure you are able to access your Kaptest.com account prior to Tuesday morning. To access the exam, you will log in to your Kaptest.com account and you will find the exam under the Level 1 Qbank ? Inst resource. The exam will become available in your account once we confirm that you are present on Tuesday morning, and we will provide the password at the start of the exam.

Triangle Community Foundation is accepting applications for the NC Diversity and Equity in Emergency Medicine Scholarship for funding for the 2026-2027 academic year. The scholarship was created out of a desire to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in the medical field, specifically in emergency medicine.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted and will be awarded to second year MD or DO students or first-year Physician Assistant students who identify as underrepresented minorities and are attending school in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, or Virginia, and are either residents of North Carolina or intend to practice medicine in North Carolina after completion of their degree program.

Awards will be $5,000 per year for the number of years remaining in the student?s program (one or two years) and may be used towards any need listed under the school?s total cost of attendance. The student is responsible for all other charges. To receive a second year of funding, students must verify they continue to be in good academic standing and that they will be enrolled for the upcoming academic year.

Greetings, Class of 2028,

WELCOME BACK and hope you had a wonderful holiday break!

Also, congratulations, you made it through your first full-length practice board exam!  It is very normal to feel worn down for a couple days after a grueling exam like that?so be kind to yourself.  If you feel more tired, listen to your body?and take care of yourself.

We recognize many of you have lots of questions about interpreting your scores and what it means?etc.  And, that is also great!  We will be sharing more details and information about the class performance on this practice exam next week during the mandatory ?ABCs of Board Preparation? as well as essential board preparation information and tips.  So, come with your questions?and ask away at this session ?.

Tips for Success:

  *   FOCUS ON YOUR BLOCK 7 CONTENT.  Master this content?doing well in your courses prepares you for boards, not to mention taking care of patients.
  *   Think about your average week and block off the time you need to study for Block 7.  Block off any other time requirements you personally have during the week.  Then, STOP.  Take an honest look?how much time do you actually have remaining to devote to board prep?  Work with what you got?and make the most of that time.
  *   If it is old content, you should be doing question sets in timed mode.  If it is new content, tutor mode is better (e.g., things you are learning this week).
  *   Considering taking Step 1?  First, speak with one of our physician faculty in the specialty or specialties you are interested in pursuing?is it actually necessary???  If not, then no need to take it. (Remember, this will require you preparing for TWO different exams.  This is not a situation where you can ?kill two birds with one stone?.  It requires a lot of extra effort and preparation?so if you don?t need to do it, don?t.)

Happy New Year and welcome back to campus! We are looking for several student volunteers to attend our CUSOM Admissions Virtual Applicant Day ? Medical Student Q&A Panel Sessions/Spring 2026 with our interview candidates. Admissions interviews will take place weekly throughout the academic year, and we would like to give our MS-1 and MS-2 students an opportunity to meet with our candidates. You may remember your interview day and how helpful the student Q & A panel sessions were for you! Our sessions will take place virtually via Zoom each week, Monday-Tuesday, 12:00-12:50pm. Once you sign up, you will receive an Outlook calendar invitation with a Zoom link prior to your scheduled date. If you have a conflict on your scheduled day, you may have a classmate fill your spot or feel free to contact me. Good afternoon, Class of 2028,



The quiz file for Block 7 - Quiz 1 will be available at 7:00am Monday morning. The download will close at 8:20am.



Please ensure that you download the exam before 8:20am on Monday morning. Your seating assignment for the quiz will be posted on the lecture hall doors at approx. 8:00am.

You should be in the lecture hall ready to begin by 8:20am. If you arrive late, you will lose time.

The password will be given to you in class prior to the 8:30am start. Remember, you must download and take the quiz on your CUSOM supplied laptop.


Remember - All students must leave ALL personal items either locked in a locker or at the front of the lecture hall during assessments. Students are NOT permitted to access phones, personal laptops, etc. during assessments. A student caught accessing any personal items during a quiz or exam will be sent to the APPS committee.



The quiz is 11 questions (Endo 01-06 and GI 01-05) and you will have 16 minutes to complete it.



The end time for this quiz is approximately 8:46am.  All students will remain seated until everyone has uploaded their quiz.



 There will be an optional 6-minute review at approximately 8:50am. You must be present in the lecture hall to review your quiz.  Question challenges will be due by 9:45am on Friday.



PLEASE restart your computer and run ALL updates this weekend. This will help eliminate many potential problems at the start of the quiz.

Good afternoon, students,

I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon the current political climate, both nationally and internationally, and let you know that as we continue to navigate numerous challenges as a nation, we recognize that these events may create additional stress and anxiety for our students. While each student?s journey is unique, CUSOM is committed to supporting our students both academically and personally. I wanted to remind you to start this year off with some healthy habits. Talk about what concerns you ? don?t keep it bottled up. Our Behavioral Health Team is always here to be a source of support through whatever circumstance you may find yourself in. Please reach out and know you are not alone. More information is below for you and as you already know, my door is always open as well.

As you all know, we have a WONDERFUL Behavioral Health Team at CUSOM that you may utilize for unlimited in-person or virtual appointments by emailing cusombh at campbell.edu<mailto:cusombh at campbell.edu>. Ms. Teresa Butrum, our fabulous Departmental Manager, will assist you in setting up an appointment. Ms. Butrum may also be reached at (910) 893-7203, or you may always stop by her desk in the north hallway to schedule an appointment.

Some of you may also want to use our partner service, ?MyGroup?, which is available 24/7/365 ? any hour of the day or night - even on weekends or holidays, when our Behavioral Health Team is not in the office.

To use MyGroup for RESOURCES/INFORMATION:

  *   Select the GREEN button,  ?Access Online Services?.

  *   Use this form to access online services and free resources available to our students.

  *   For APPOINTMENTS, select the YELLOW button, ?Request an Appointment? and fill out the form.
  *   For the ?program?, select ?Student Assistance Program?.

  *   Fill out the rest of the form and click ?Access Services?.
  *   A representative will contact you for an appointment.

Hello, fellow Class of 2028!


As we move closer to the leadership transition to the Class of 2029, I wanted to share important information to help ensure the process runs smoothly. The timeline and procedures will closely mirror how things were handled last year.


CLUB Leadership Elections

Applications for club positions are due on Wednesday, January 14th and will be distributed to current club Presidents and Vice Presidents on the afternoon of Monday, January 19th. Club leaders (you) will meet to vote on your successors between January 20-22nd. While the candidate information will be sent to only the president and vice president, all leadership is able to vote. It is completely at your discretion how exactly you choose your proteges. Once resolved, one person will email the new Class of 2029 club leaders to Mary Holly (mholly at campbell.edu<mailto:mholly at campbell.edu>) by Thursday, January 22nd at 8PM who will then announce the winners. If your candidate was selected for multiple positions and chooses a different club, Mary will reach back out to you and have you select someone else. Note that you are not responsible to reach out to the new club leaders.



If there were no MS-1 applicants for your club or interest group position, Mary will email you and it is your responsibility to find someone to apply for your role. Otherwise, the club or interest group will go DORMANT.



INTEREST GROUP Elections

The same process will then take place when selecting interest group leaders. Applications from MS-I?s are due Wednesday, January 21st and will be disseminated to interest group leaders (you) by the afternoon of Monday, January 26th. Interest group leaders (still you) will meet to vote on your successors between January 27th-29th. One person will email the newly decided Class of 2029 interest group leaders to Mary Holly (mholly at campbell.edu<mailto:mholly at campbell.edu>) by Thursday, January 29th at 8PM who will then announce the winners.



Post-Election Instructions -  for ALL CLUBS & INTEREST GROUPS

Following elections, clubs and interest groups will enter a transition phase beginning February 4th. During this period, organizations will be considered ?dormant,? meaning no new plans, purchases, or orders will be processed. This time is perfect to change your photo in Presence, attach your membership roster, and update your new leadership and /or bylaws. A critical part of the process is filling out the transition form that can be accessed here<https://campbell.presence.io/organization/forms/forms> or by going to Presence, selecting Organizations at the top right, typing in ?forms,? and choosing ?Forms? in the horizontal bar. The deadline for this form to be completed will be announced later. Please be sure to use the month of February to properly train and prepare the NEW Class of 2029 leadership for your club or interest group.


Club training will take place on February 17 for NEW (incoming) Class of 2029 leaders to review roles, responsibilities, upcoming plans, and answer questions. Clubs and interest groups will remain dormant until training is complete, and transition forms are submitted in Presence.
