Greetings, Class of 2028,
Thank you for attending Friday’s presentation on the introduction to your first board prep course, CABS I, and how to utilize your TrueLearn/COMBANK account.
* Please note the recording can be accessed by clicking the link and using the associated password: (the first part is an overview of CABS I; Stephanie Lackner’s section from TrueLearn starts ~43 min. mark)

Also, please see the attached slides from the presentation.
We thank you for your questions and active participation during the session. Please see our follow-up to your questions and concerns. (And of course, if there are any other questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us 😊).
Question: What if I have already completed questions within my TrueLearn/COMBANK account? Can I get a head start on the 800 required questions within COMBANK before the end of Block 4?
* Yes, if you have the time to work on some TrueLearn questions after you feel prepared for your Block 4 quiz/exam AND made your health & wellness a priority, then, you can get a head start on the 400 of the 800 questions that you choose to complete on your own.
* Tip: try doing questions over the content you have already covered or are covering in Block 4—psych, neuro, and anatomy.
* If the idea of this stresses you out, no worries 😊—you have plenty of time during the summer to complete all these requirements. This is just in case someone wants to get started early due to significant time obligations during the summer.
* If you have already completed questions within your TrueLearn/COMBANK (“COMLEX – 1ST Year” question bank), then, yes, these can count toward your 400 of the 800 required total questions; keep in mind, the questions you complete on your own accord will need to reach a 50% or higher to earn the maximum score for this portion of your requirement (you can retake questions to improve your mastery of the content and score).
* The remaining 400 questions (for a total of 800) come from 10 quizzes of 40-questions/quiz created & assigned to you within your account. (We create these for you; to earn maximum score for this portion, just do your best and complete all the question sets assigned to you…there is no minimal score you must earn).
Question: How do I contact TrueLearn if I need help with something?
* To access “how-to’s” & more information on specific topics like “Accessing Your Account” or “Create Test”, go to: https://support.truelearn.net/?_ga=2.77977245.861592871.1746456703-1588307024.1730648930 and click on the link of interest
* For FAQ: https://support.truelearn.net/faq/
* To contact TrueLearn: you can fill out a form at http://truelearn.wpengine.com/contact/ (best way). You can also email them at support at truelearn.com<mailto:support at truelearn.com> or call (866)475-4777 from 9-5 EST, M-F.
Concern: I have military (or other significant time) obligations, and I’m not sure how to complete all the requirements for CABS I during the summer.
* Thank you for your service and your future commitment to serving our country. You are much appreciated!
* You have a lot of flexibility in completing your requirements. We will provide a suggested timeline, but that is only a suggestion. So, block out your commitments, and adjust the schedule to what WORKS FOR YOU.
* Need help with your schedule? Feel free to reach out to one of the course directors for additional support.
Concern: I am concerned because we (class of 2028) have two fewer weeks of dedicated board prep time than this year’s cohort.
* Thank you for voicing your concern.
* Comparing the class of 2027 to the class of 2028, there will be 7 fewer days from the last exam of Block 8 to the start of SIM month.
* However, please bear in mind that these changes in the calendar were made in response to student feedback on ways to improve the block schedules and provide more time during the blocks for integrated board prep (spaced repetition is key for effective board prep) and other activities such as research and service.
* Your class will also begin Block 7 a few days later than this year’s cohort (January 6 instead of January 3), which many may find more desirable for those traveling for the New Year.
* The changes in the calendar should provide you with a bit more time to integrate your board prep alongside mastery of the curriculum during the second year, which ultimately, if capitalized upon, should put you in a stronger place by the time you finish your Block 8 course exams.
* Also, for historical context, the vast majority of students choose to take the COMLEX well before the start of SIM month, typically by the end of May, so much of the class is taking the COMLEX within 30-40 days after the last Block 8 exam (so much less time than the allotted time of 51 days your class will have).
* You are actually doing a lot of board prep between now and then—so, just remember you are already working toward that goal right now 😊.
We will make all the materials associated with CABS I available to you immediately following the end of Block 4.
Hope you all have a strong finish to Block 4!
