[Cusom28] Important Update: CABS I Course Requirement

Greetings, Class of 2028,

Due to the current limitations of the TrueLearn/COMBANK learner interface, we are modifying the Part II requirement for your CABS I Course.  Please note, a new syllabus has been posted to the Blackboard course with this adjustment (and is also attached for your convenience here).

Essentially, instead of requiring you to earn 50% or higher on the additional 400 questions completed on your own within COMBANK, you only need to complete an additional 400 questions on your own.  We are dropping a score/% requirement associated with this set of questions.  This also means you do not need to report anything to us since we can determine how many total questions you have completed.

As sent to you previously, here is a synopsis of key requirements for this course (the red font indicates the adjustment made):


  *   Summary of Key Requirements*:
     *   End of Block 4 CABS I Exam  Completed!
     *   TrueLearn/COMBANK - COMLEX Level 1 Questions: total of 800
        *   Ten 40-Question Quiz Sets (created & assigned to you)-completion only, no minimum score so just do your best
        *   On your own, 400 questions you choose (any mode)
           *   To earn full credit, you must complete 400 additional questions (not counting the 400 from the CABS I quiz sets or the 176 CABS I exam).
           *   Note:  there is no longer a requirement to earn a minimum % on these additional questions-only to complete them.  However, we encourage you to set a personal goal of earning a 50% or higher.  Performance of <50% within a discipline or body system may indicate an area of opportunity to strengthen through additional active review and COMBANK questions.
           *   You no longer need to send us anything once you complete these questions.  We can access how many questions you complete within TrueLearn so there is nothing you need to report to us.
        *   Your actual total questions completed within TrueLearn needs to be 976 questions = 800 COMBANK Questions + 176-question Block 4 CABS I Exam.
     *   Start of Block 5 CABS I Exam-8:30 a.m. on July 25 in Levine 202

  *   Having trouble accessing the Pharm links?
     *   Make sure you are using your CUSOM-issued laptop.  And, you may have to log into a proxy if you are off campus to get past the firewall.
     *   You can also create an Access Medicine account and log into that account from any computer to access these clickable links to the Pharm cards.

Also, many of you have expressed concern about earning low scores within TrueLearn.  Remember, you are still very EARLY in your board prep-so lower scores especially on higher difficulty questions and content you may have not seen is to be expected.  Also, you need to recalibrate your expectations within TrueLearn.  For example, making a 50% on an integrated exam-not good.  Making a 50% within TrueLearn at this stage-very good!  These scales are very different so be careful in your interpretations.  (And, remember, those national averages include students who are much further along in their board prep & medical school curriculum than you.)
